they are a very funny company...

They were meant to start 3 years ago.......and im guessing, due to the economic downturn, it's going to be postponed ffor another year att least....

Speaking as a boater myself, that Karpaz marina looks more like a military installation, they even have a floating dry dock. They have a lot of heavy equipment there for constructing just a yacht marina. I stopped to take a picture and a security man told me to move on.

Port Cyprium marina is still on schedule for work to start this Spring.

At present they are awaiting the final acceptance of the Environmental Impact assessment.

This hopefully should be very soon obviously the elections are slowing things down.

They then have to have the final construction drawings approved.

I spoke to Altan Hussain today and he is optimistic of a start on the ground at the end of May.

The first phase will be ground clearance and then formation of the outer breakwater.

I think then things will move fairly quickley.

I think that is very negative Mr. Canvavuz Altan Hussain has worked extreamly hard to push this project through if it wasn't for the obstructions that he has met mostley from Government departments changing the rules it would have been started much earlier.

Things have come together over the past few months and i am very optimistic about a speedy start.

I can only give the facts as i know them if you have substantiated grounds for saying otherwise then please let us all know.

still not started ehh?

hahaha, just as i thought.

A scam to boost property sales around the area.

It all makes sense actually. Sea water Bay, so i hear a jewish owned company, builds properties in Tatlisu. Then when these begin, you here another Jewish company has decided to build a "marina".

Firstly, it's a big coincidence that both the owners are Jewish. Possibly the same person? Possibly a lie to boost property sales?

It will never start.

Thank god i bought my home in Alsancak and not Tatlisu.....the other side of the world!

Ofcourse, i may be wrong.......but the odds of that are very low

Canyavuz,

What a plank you are!!!! Port Cyprium Marina is the brain child of a Turkish Cypriot from London, Altan Houssien... sound very Jewish to you???

Like all things on this island, it takes time, and there are always people who want to put obstacles in your way. The golf course was never going to happen after 2 years with nothing happening (according to uneducated people like you)... then all of a sudden it was built in a year and is now a huge success.

It will start and you are wrong Canyavuz... just you wait and see!!!!

haha.....does he own it or run it? Takes quite a few bob to build a place like that!

The name Reha Muhtar is Turkish, but he is actually jewish. So is Hande Ataizi....

Your name doesn't determine which faith you are from!

His faith doesn't even matter anyway....the point is....

Since 07, we've been hearing of this. No obstacles would get in the way for 3 years running. The government would be very open to such an investment if it were going to be made........i highly doubt they would cause such obstacles

To the best of my knowledge, having been up the Karpas resently, lead to believe that the marina at yenierencoy is under the control of John Lewis Isreali and it is one hell of a big project

The £12 million project for the new marina is finally due to start early in the new year says Altan Huseiyn the owner. he said that investors had been worried about developments around the Orams case etc but that these worries are now behind them and the project is to go ahead.

I have heard that the new port cyprium marina will never be built. That it is just pie in the sky, in other words a fairy story. I have heard it's only one persons dream and that is all it will ever be a dream because there is no money to build it. If anyone knows better or it has already started or there is a definite starting date. Then I will apologise for being a doubter but after 3 years of hearing it's going to start next week, next month etc. I have now resigned myself to the fact it never going to happen. Will all the properties at Port Cyprium village now have to change their names?

Perhaps if the marina is not going to be built , What about building a large supermarket and Up market beach club. Both would be welcome in the area and hopefully well supported

Last I heard, from a local Turkish Cypriot, is that the word on the street is that it will start in March.... but then again, this is Cyprus my friend!

It has been reported it was going to start last March, then August then October. Then Mr Altan Huseiyn himself said January 2010. Unfortunately although Mr Huseiyn has dreamed of this for the last ten years, he doesn't have the money to build it himself without money from backers. I think backers would be reluctant to put their money in to anything in the TRNC in view of all the uncertainty over the Orams and the never ending talks between north and south.

This one is well under way, backed by the Lewis Trust Group. Due for completion this year. Located a little further east on the fabulous Karpaz Peninsular.

Busy Bees, looks very nice, will have to take a trip up there. I should imagine that the Butler (like me) is not so much interested in the Marina itself (although I could be wrong there!) but moreover the investment potential that such a thing would bring for the Esentepe/Tatlisu region

Hi millzer.

You are right, when we bought our property 4 years ago, it was because of the promise of the marina close by and the golf course. Well the golf course has happened and a beautiful course it is to. The marina unfortunately has not and although we keep getting fed snippets of information from the local press, nothing seems to happen. I am not a sailor myself but I would like to see the marina built because I think it would add so much to the area.

Just a thought.... there are two new bars opening in Kucuk erenkoy, the sea breeze and mamumbaz. To those people who know the place, why ? there are not enough punters to go round the bars there at the moment.

Then again, could it be because they know somethin about the start of the marina !!

Hi corbytown,

How many bars are there between the Esentepe turn off and Tatlisu? When I bought there was only two, the Antique bar & restaurant and Eagles Nest. now there is the Pop Inn, Stevies Bar, Moulos, Joya Bar. I am sure there are more but I don't know them or where they are. They will all struggle to survive especially in the winter.
