It's all very nice going to a local TC restaurant - they are usually good fun and the food is reasonable BUT is there somewhere where one can 'dress up' and have a bit of posh??

I suppose The Colony is the poshest place - I haven't been there yet - any recommendations please.

Best wishes - Jackie

Hi Jakki,

The savoy is very grand, I understand their restuarants are very good and

quite reasonable.

I must say I've only been there for coffee, so if you do try it, let us all know how you get on.

The savoy - Follow the road down from the Belediye offices (I think this may be the square - who knows). Go over the little crossroads where Resat Jewellery will be on your left, keep going another couple hundred metres and the savoy is on the left. Have a good meal.

If I was going to the Savoy then I would go there and back by taxi, that way you can have that extra glass or bottle of wine and you do not have to worry about finding it!

Bellapais Gardens, really really good food, reasonable price considering the quality of the restaurant and food. Great Service

I think their website is http://www.bellapaisgardens.com, there's loads of pictures on there, well worth a visit

Which area are you wanting to go to and at what time of the year? Patina in Ozankoy comes recommended winter or summer. Savoy - had a not so good experience when they opened so have not been back since. Rocks Hotel is good. Not sure about the Colony as heard bad reports over the last few years. It was great when they first opened.

Thanks guys - I haven't heard of Patina though - we're coming over in June for a couple of weeks - our villa is at Sweetwater Bay - as I say it's just nice once in a while to do a bit of posh - Jackie

St Tropez is a good place to eat, you can get dressed up there and not feel out of place.

I like the Sofa Restaurant in the Bellaview Hotel on the road up to Bellapais.

Posh but friendly and not too big, quite intimate, dress up and enjoy the luxurious surroundings. Surprisingly not too expensive. Turkish & International Cuisine. Nice setting overlooking gardens and floodlit pool with views down to Girne.

They will happily arrange taxis there and back.

Try the Ambiance 0392 822 2849 The dining tables are set into the rocks on the coast. Very smart and the sunsets are to die for its in Girne heading towards alsanjak.

Jakki

Coming from the East continue on the Karakum road and turn left at the sign for China Garden. Patina is not far from China Garden.

Agree Efendis is superb especially in the summer eating in the idyllic courtyard.

Food is very good at the Golf club and you can dress up to go there. Again lovely location and excellent service.

Enjoy!

The food at 5 Mile is continental and varied, from gnocchi to kebabs, from chinese style duck to steak ... the choice is super and the views are amazing! Maybe a little on the pricey side, but well worth it!

Congratulations on your villa Jakki, i hope you have lots of fun times in it.

You should pop in and see us at the Old Grapevine up from the Coloney, its lovely and cosy next to the fire in the winter, and blissful to sit in the courtyard in the summer.

Hopefully we will see you soon and if you have any queries you can give us a ring on 0392 815 2496.

Hi Kakki and congratulations. Veni Vici St Tropez and 5 mile are all in the same direction all west as we are. We have a Bistro called Guidos and you most certainly can dress up. Menu is mainly Italian but we also do steaks lobster oysters scollops and blackboard specials. That is in Alsancak. Efendi is in the Turkish quater in town and Ezic is on the new bypass. Hope this helps. xxx

Many thankx!! - The Sarayburnu restaurant looks fab and should be publicised a bit more as far as I'm concerned - I didn't know that it existed and I'm so glad I started this thread.
