Perhaps they are adopting number four on the list which you left out

4. Individual freedom of belief, speech, association, freedom of press, right to hold assembly.

also I believe these laws below do not exist in the TRNC

"In law defamation of libel which is for written words and slander for spoken words, that may give an individual, business, product, group, goverment or nation a negative image"

freedom of speech is fine but when it spills into libel or slander, it becomes a different matter.

after some peoples behaviour in the last few weeks ,i just thought some folks would be interested to read it.

especially those who hide behind their computer screens in e.u countries.

it has been legally tried and tested and i understand a guy got 10k compensation and had his 7k cost payed for by the guilty party, in the uk.

what stops any e.u citizen taking action against another for slander or libel in their own countries court for something which is publish on the worldwide web?

Firestarter....I understand what you are trying to say,but I would suggest that a more deserving target for your friendly warning would be the bigotted, racist, blinkered and deluded charmers on that other Cyprus forum.

I would also be wary of letting her know where you live, I wouldn't trust her any further than I could throw her!

"To determine whether a statement implies a factual assertion, courts examine the totality of the circumstances in which it was made. First, they look at the statement in its broad context, which includes the general tenor of the entire work, the subject of the statements, the setting, and the format of the work. Next they turn to the specific context and content of the statements, analyzing the extent of figurative or hyperbolic language used and the reasonable expectations of the audience in that particular situation. Finally, they inquire whether the statement itself is sufficiently factual to be susceptible of being proved true or false."

Deliberate publication of defamatory lies which the publisher knows to be false. as long as you tell the truth then eveyone will be ok !

So....if you are unhappy with a service, does this mean that you can not tell other people about the dissatisfaction, for fear of being hauled up in front of a court....? I'm a tad confused...do we name and shame or suck it up and deal with it?

AS long as you are telling the truth personally you should be able to say so ! and not get personal in the process
