Will be in touch when we are over in July. Glad to know you are leading beach cleans. I think that this is a really good approach - lead by example. Send an invitation to government and tourism agencies to join you/us. Try to make sure it is covered in Turkish papers as well as English speaking.

Hi Teepee

Appreciate that you are probably only dealing with the beach clean at the Karsiyaka end. Do you know if something similar is being arranged for Alagadi as the beach is in a disgraceful state.

Regards

Hi Paul,

Currently I do not believe that there is anything in place for a beach clean involving school children, as is usually the case at this time of year. Problems relate to the timing of school exams and holidays. This is obviously dissapointing for us at Alagadi who are working on the beach daily and soon nightly. And it's not only the absence of a clean but the educational value to the children that will be missed. We would be very keen to organise a clean with anyone who is interested. Perhaps a regular event every two weeks through the summer, ideally on a Monday (when litter is at it's worst following the Sunday BBQ fest) involving TP volunteers and anyone else who has time and inclination to attend. If you are up for this we could put word out and organise something.

Hi folks,

I'd love to see the turtles, but I don't think I'll be around long enough to do so (going back to Blighty June 6th). Does anyone have some details please. We have a place nearby in St. Kathleen's rise, so it would be good to do if there's chance.

Cheers,

Graeme

They don't expect to be inviting the public to visit nesting till around the 10th June. However, if you read the blog, things seem to be a little ahead. If you're near the goatshed, it's worth calling in to see what the latest situation is. At the worst, the answer will still be "No".

There has been so much activity at the beach lately, I thought I would bring this thread back up to the top. read up on the action on the projects blog. http://www.turtleproject09.blogspot.com/

There have been over 88 nests so far this year on Alagadi, It looks like its going to be one of the best years the project has had. If anyone is interested in going down to watch the turtles lay it is best to book in at least 4-5 days in advance. There was also a great articile in Saturdays Cyprus Today.

Keep up the good work guys.
