Take this evening, fiance working late, no food in the house & I want a take away, my credit is running out as I keep trying to call and they have no idea what I want or am saying (& I thought I knew some Turkish!) I find it's even harder on the phone then comes the harder bit of explaining the address as it is a new development without a real address & they don't know it, does anyone else find this very frustrating, I think I will just starve or have cereal again it's not worth the hassle or my phone credit!!!!!!

lol, i find it very irrating trying to order a take away over the phone, but at the same time very funny.

we can't complain i suppose, we do live in a foreign country! lol. over time, it is probably cheaper to pick the food up than to keep trying to get them to understand you on the phone!

I would but we need to get a car first! I know, I really am trying to learn Turkish & it's even more frustrating as I have never lived in a foreign country where I wasn't able to speak the language well & express myself!

I've been using http://www.yemeksepeti.com for ages now. You order over the internet from places and then they deliver to you wherever you are. Its an excellent service, and its free to use. You don't need menus either as all of the food each place sells (and the price) is listed on the website. There is a box as well when you order to put in special requests, e.g. no salad or lots of chips etc.



You put in your address where you want it delivered and they normally deliver within about 45 minutes. I've used it to deliver to my office and i think its a great service as i can't always make myself understood on the phone, but they have always got it right with this service as its all written down (in english) for them.

Hiya Kav its mainly in turkish but very easy to understand. Otherwise just call us and order. If you use the site our menus are in english so you just place your order and it comes through to us. xxxx

Taxi firms, take aways etc here in Jakarta have a simple but clever system.

When you call them you are logged into their customer database under your mobile phone number.

Next time you call, they answer, and know your name before you even say hello from the caller display.

Directions to your house are logged on their system.

Easy as can be, found every time, and there are more people and houses in Kamang alone that the whole of TRNC.

get a turkish friend then if you need to order something just call them to do it for you!
