I am halfway through reading a document that is freely downloadable and it is a collection of letters that involve Rauf Denktas and Mike Moran. The document is available at http://www.gpotcenter.org and the document is entitled Cyprus: Unity and Difference.

AJ.....Mike Moran has researched this very well indeed. He gives an unbiased opinion and it has the strength of a critical look at previous British policies and more recently EU policies. The document has indeed called into question why we should always look at the "Cyprus Problem" from 1974 onwards, and goes further back to what precipitated the liberation of the TC,s by the Turkish Army and then the partition and subsequent peace on the whole island. Thanks for the info, Iain

A very interseting link...thank you kindly.

I have read some of the letters and they certainly represent some intelligent and intellectual dialogue.

It is encouraging to read such pragmatic and understanding script.

I am one letter number 5 and shall continue with interest.

I would recommend anyone with an interest in Cypriot History to indulge and learn.

Oh boy, I have just been reading letters 7 & 8. I will now not listen to any more crap from any of the GC supporters on this board, my mind is now made up. I would even buy a second hand car from Rauf Denktas. What a politician!

Haven't you finished it yet? Actually, would like a hard copy, anywhere in central Girne to purchase the book?

To be honest, I have read the book and find it is two people satisfying their egos and doing little to explain the Cyprus problem, rather to moan and keep the fires burning.

I found it rather disappointing.

A friend showed me a picture today of a father holding the hands of his child, buried in a shallow grave following one of the massacres of Turkish Cypriots in the aftermath of July 20. That touched me and horrified me much more than this exchange of letters seeing if "you'll agree with me".

I guess most of us are 'egotistical' and I would put your posting in the same group. For me this tome is yet another piece of the jigsaw that allows me to have a better understanding of the 'Cyprus Problem'. And with all of the other books that now take pride of place in my library it allows me to have a more balanced perspective.

You maybe ought to read more books rather than lecture, then Alsancak Jack. Egotistical? For having my say, which obviously disagrees with yours? Wow. I humbly apologise.

Dear AJ

I still haven't begun to read the works yet, but it is interesting to note that this is recommended reading by the:

Association for Cypriot, Greek and Turkish Affairs

( ACGTA )

http://www.peace-cyprus.org/ACGTA/#500

just need to find out WHY, now !

Plectrum

'Though strangely enough you never say that whenever Genocide Files is mentioned.'

You have lost me with that one, perhaps you need to become a little bit 'better read'.

But then again I guess you are biased. Never mind, heed the quote and you can not go far wrong.

Enjoy your reading as much as I do.

AJ

Thanks for the post just finished the letters

The admissions of the GC participants in unguarded moments tells it all

The duplicity of the UK because of the bases is a disgrace

I noted the bit on the Greek bases in the south how many Greek troops are there and the arms spending what’s the average number of the men under arms peaks and low in the RoC ?

Definitely the pot calling the kettle black

What a one sided story you get from the Dark Sliders would you trust them with no guarantee from TR and TR troops being here I don't think so

Your second post regarding conditioning and education

The similarities to the propaganda and the content of state education and public feelings stoked by the Church and politicians makes it more like the Germany of the 1930’s

http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/EPIC/documents/ICSpyrou.pdf

On that front the post war German education was made so that the people knew what they had done .

In the 50's in the UK it was no Blacks Irish and dogs

The sixties rivers of blood Enoch Powell

I remember a broad Welsh speaking history teacher being told on the phone that houses on a new estate were sold

His English speaking colleague phoned and was told there were plenty of houses they thought the Welshman was Indian that was the 60's

The UK is different now but the communities are integrating now

There is no integration and the true cause of the intervention being the dream of enosis is not revealed to the greek population
