Hi all,

Just checking really if this bill sounds right , we have had a bill for one month for 1036 tl £431, we have a three bed with a pool, and air con only upstairs which is switched off during the day. normally when the property is empty our bill is around £33 does £100 a week sound right.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance

Diificult to say really but ours is in the region of TL260 per month. Like you, we have 3 bed with pool. We have aircon on rarely and then for no more than 30 mins. If you have aircon on all night it will make your bill so much higher. We use our fans.

How is your bill broken down or are you on builders electric? Are you definitely sure this is just for one month and there has been no confusion with previous months being unpaid?

I havent seent he broken down costs as the managment company collect the bills and pay it for us, but on on our account the electric is paid every month. they assure us that we are on standard rates and not builders rates

thanks for your reply, it looks like our bill too high by miles, I know the air is on all night as we have small children , but even so it still seems very steep, thanks for your replies.

For how long in the month in question was the house occupied? Was it occupied by yourself or guests?

Have any of you checked how many units you have used compared to other months?

Just for your information,

My last bill, dated 27/07/2009 gave the first 4 price bands as: -

0.30 TL

0.35 TL

0.38 TL

0.50 TL

It was for a longer period than normal - 38 days between the last reading and this one - so the number of units allowed in each price band was 317.

You are allowed 8.3333 units per day in each price band.

The bill was higher than normal - I usually take care not to get anywhere near the highest band, and rarely get into even the 3rd band - but we'd had guests using extra aircon etc. Also my pool pump run time has been increased to 8 hours per day for the Summer - that alone would account for 228 units over 38 days.

The Bill was 379.88 TL for 963 units. I average 300 to 500 units, depending on time of year, guests, etc.

Hope that helps.

Hi Keith,

"You are allowed 8.3333 units per day in each price band."

Are you sure about that bit? If you have an unoccupied house with just a pool pump running for 6 hours per day you rarely get out of the 1st band.

Vaughan,

That would be right!

Say 1HP motor = approx 0.75KW X 6Hrs = 4.5 KWH per day, so you would never get out of the first band, you'd have almost 4 units 'to spare' every day.

Example : -

28 day month 'allowance' 28 x 8.333 = 233 units at 0.30 TL, then 233 units at 0.33 TL,...etc.

Consumption with just pump running for 28 days = 28 x 4.5 = 126 units, which would all be at the lowest rate.

Basic cost 126 x 0.30 TL = 37.8 TL plus the various 'other' charges and VAT. It will still come out at well under 65 TL

Of course if you're on 'Builder's tariff', at 0.90 TL a unit, it's a wee bit more expensive!

Ask me another - as long as it's not about Sport

Keith.

Time for folks to seriously consider inverter a/c, as I have long been saying.
