I have used this Restaurant a few times and found the quality of staff extremely poor especially the guy who goes around chanting Fenerbahce football songs. My wife said it was intimidating first time she went there.



Lacks atmosphere and you can’t help noticing the mark up when you shop next door especially their wines!

It's a shame as I can walk to here and regularly use the supermarket.



On the supermarket checkout there is a girl who has a face like thunder; I've never seen her smile. Shame as the rest of the staff are excellent



Would love to have another option in Karaoglanoglu instead of getting the dolmus elsewhere. The restaurants further down the road are far better quality and value for money especially with their location and service

=> Isn't it the employer who has to apply for the work permit for new staff? There must me English/Turkish speaking young men who would like the job - if the employer does what he/she has to do. Or?

Looking back at previous comments elsewhere this place has had an issue regarding poor quality staff

the government only give so many chances to employers to take a new person from Turkey that is why they need someone on an existing permit so they can transfer across without any problem. this is something that can be done around the 6th month stage of their year permit. it is not a question of costs as the future cost of the permit will be met by the employee as is the case with many employers here.



as for the staff, food or prices i have never seen any complaints on this forum or any other nor have i heard anyone complain verbally. i suggest if anyone does have a complaint they take it up with the managers either in the supermarket or the restaurant, that's the only way that anyone can see where they may be going wrong! sarcastic comments on the forum get us nowhere. please only post on this topic regarding either a waiter or a delivery driver. thank you.

=> As far as I know: a Turkish Cypriot doesn't need a work permit. So why should it be a person from Turkey?! You didn't mention that in your first post (advertisement)! Or was that the hidden catch in your message: "to transfer across"? Strange.

perhaps you want to apply? if any one has a kimlik card they have the right to work without a permit. if someone was to apply with a kimlik card and were suitable then there would be no problem with any permit. however most kimlik card holders are in nice government jobs or the like and do not want to be waiters. but should you know someone who does want to be a waiter please send them to Tempo along with anyone else you may feel that i may have overlooked by just referring to people from Turkey. so if anyone has a kimlik card or a valid work permit and can speak both Turkish and English and is interested in either the waiter position or the delivery driver (driving licence required for driving job) please apply to Tempo restaurant. thank you

So it is a 6 day week? How many hrs on each of the 6 days will the 'waiter' be expected to work? I ask because, having spoken with many Turkish waiters in the TRNC whilst spending the summer touring round there, with 2, 3 and 4 night stops hotels and restaurants all over, it was not uncommon for them to have to work a min.of 15 hrs a day. Explains why you see the same faces every time you go there, whether it is for breakfast, lunch, or a late evening meal. To give them their due, they were invariably always friendly and polite. You see the same young Turkish guy tidying round the pool at the crack of dawn, serving at the lunchtime bar, carrying linen around at other odd times and working in the restaurant until gone midnight. Perhaps if a little more detail was available - i.e. hours worked in a day, what wages to expect, etc. you'd have more luck? Also puzzled by the insistence on them speaking Turkish. Almost ALL the customers of all these places were English speaking Brits.

I popped in the other week and was told they were looking for a waiter and the hours were 10am to 10pm - no wonder the staff look tired then.

It is normal for waiters to work long hours both here and in Turkey, it is accepted. Denise, maybe get the powers that be in Tempo to put a small ad in Kibris newspaper which will hopefully reach those suitable to apply. I guess the majority of those commenting on this board don't need a job and can't speak Turkish.

I know someone look,ing for work, who is Turkish, but with kimlik card and reasonable English as he lived in Australia, but........ is it a wage for a man who has a family? I will give him the phone number of Musa, but want to know if he will be wasting his time chasing a job better suited to a student.

Obviously, as a family man he would want to spend some time with the family!

MarieB i suggest you get your friend to call and discuss and if he thinks it's ok then he can go along for an interview. but as a waiter you will find all the jobs are similar in hours and pay. all i can say is that wages and tips are guranteed as is sigorta. there are plenty employers not paying regular wages. good luck
