Bankruptcy-threatened Greece should sell some of its islands to raise money, according to German MPs.

Reminds me of a few years ago, when the Germans wanted to buy Majorca from Spain.

NB Anyone notice in the article that it said "Islands popular with holidaymakers include Zante and Zakynthos". Zante and Zakynthos are one and the same

Perhaps Zante is for those who can't spell.

May I suggest that rather than sell the south of Cyprus, as a gesture of goodwill they had it to Turkey

That will save them loads of money and improve their image within Europe

Give all Greeks Australian passports (largest concentration of Greeks outside Athens is Melbourne) and ship the lot of them out there waiving the 40 Drachma fee and leave the Turks to run the Country properly!

There are 6000 Greek Islands. How many are unpopulated?

I suppose the Germans have come up with this proposal (that Greece sells off its numerous uninhabited islands) just so they can buy them cheaply. They then have the beaches AND SUNBEDS all to themselves !
