I find myself confused, I congratulate England on a hard fought win, the confusion comes from the fact that I am genetically engineered not to that, can't help it I suppose, must be all the englishmen I have been drinking with rubbing off on me.

Now if the press can just avoid over-sensationalising it, you might even get a few more non english brits joining you in hope.

That's the secret you know, we don't really hate England, or at least most of us don't, we just don't like the press over doing it when you have a chance.

Good luck for the next round, I will be cheering for you.

p.s. don't tell any other scots I wrote this, I will be sent to coventry, been there, didn't really like it.

Congratulations to England and as a non-footie fan I did watch most of the game which was

quite exciting. I remember 1966 and we were all for an England victory against Germany.

I had a brother-in-law staying with us who put his bet on Germany! He was not popular !

And he lost money! Wonder if the scorer was descended from Daniel Defoe?

Mark, Pizza place is not Catalkoy, behind big Lemar in Karakum at the top of the road on the left, Mama Mia, I think.

Lilli, yes germany next on Sunday 5pm.

Deutchland, Deutchland, uber alles. Sorry, I just keep finding it harder to know what to do.

As for the die hard fans Lilli, Watching the England game, preperation for the Germany game which had to be watched just to see who was going to go through and retuning the satellite system every 10 minutes to get a picture, trying to keep up to date with the flights status. Nobody has time to write about the game.

Paul, nice to hear a Scot pleased for the English, I hope Murray wins today, that great British tennis player.

As Scot/Brit I shall be cheering England on in my local in Bolton. However I pulled Germany in the works sweepstake so as much as I want England to win every cloud has a silver lining.

Well, a win is a win and that's all that counts. But. I've watched the three matches of the English team - a weak collective with some good players, acting far below their usual level, I'd say - and I've not seen much if any progress in this tournament. The English team may be very pleased that it didn't have to meet the French team on their way home from the same airport.

So let's hope England will survive long enough to meet the Dutch team sometime in this WC tournament - the Dutch having a good team with good players, but I have to admit: not performing as strong as possible yet. I can hardly wait to see Fabio Capello congratulate the Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk... Hope keeps us alive, my British friends...

PS. By the way: it's Deutschland über alles and not Deutchland. Omg I'll have to support England...

Sorry Hans, that is unforgivable of me to forget how to spell my favourite team (oops, gave it away again. Ahh, shise egal) and forgetting the umlauf, wait a minute, I don't have a key for that. OK, you got me on the misspelling. I was only there 2 weeks ago, in Duisburg giving away all the english team secrets aswell.

Holland does look better so far Hans but as you said, neither of them are playing to thier full potential yet, perhaps when they start facing rated opposition they will stop thinking about the repercusions if they lose and get on with the thrilling games they can play.
