Would love to believe ours boys could pull it off, but my head says that the Germans are younger and fitter, our boys have looked a bit jaded, too long a season I think.

Let's not hear anyire nonsense about how good England are - they are absolute trash.

These so called 'great' players are only good for their clubs when they are surrounded by forieign talent. Every one if these England players should hang their head's in shame.

Capello should now go and, unless the whole philosophy if football in this country is reviewed, we can look forward to being a third rate football team losing to third rate teams.

Despicable.

Bill - agree wholeartedly, although I daresay much will be made of the disallowed England goal and the contribution this made towards England's humiliating defeat.

The best team won (by a long way).

I'm just amazed with the selection for the team... Players who can't get a first team game should automatically be discounted in my view...

Rooney is probably totally knackered after a long and injury prone season... why did Capello leave him in/on when nothing he'd done showed any promise? He's out of pace and unable to string together a pass or keep possession. On;y players are their very best should warrant a place... so many young players denied a place and for what... 'experience'. sorry but fitness must count.

Heskey, doh!

Defending... non-existent.

They didn't deserve to wear their country's colours- there are many more lower league players who are not paid the kings ransom and would perform out of pride, play as a team and score goals. This system of picking premier league Prima Donnas who are over paid and don't even earn a fraction of it has to stop. Thank God we arn't in England and having to listen day in day out about us winning the World cup with our world class players for the next 4 years. Thankfully we have Digiturk so didn't have to put up with the "experts" analysis at half and full time.

Every football supporter in the country should refuse to support there team on the opening day of the football season to show the FA that they need to change football in this country. For a start new rules should be introduces that no more than 3 foreign players should be fielded at any one time.

Thought is was a great game, loads of entertainment on show. Terry showed everyone how poor he is but the shocker for me was Rooney again. Why the hell didn't he get pulled off by the scruff of his neck

Same old England but I feel sorry for the fans who had high expectations of them, I certainly didn't though

Bill, there is much we can discuss here on how to improve the beautiful game, i for one would start to ask FIFA why are they the only international sporting organisation not to use modern technology such as the use of TV evidence for such a high profile tournament especially the world cup money rules this game now, so why not bring in.

There are lessons to be learned from any dismal campaign. Goal line technology has been lobbied for on many an occasion by the smaller clubs in the Premiership, led by a once England manager hopeful. He failed to get any support from the big 4. Harry Redknapp supported the concept whilst at Portsmouth along with Chris Coleman, Paul Jewel, Alan Pardew, Alan Curbishley and Mick McCarthy. This England manager hopeful was also lambasted for Route 1 football. Germany's first goal was a peach of a R1.

To conclude the Premiership starlets that performed today might now reflect on how the small clubs of the Premiership feel when they had similar decisions against the rule out unfairly against the top boys. What goes round comes around.

Any idea who the technology advocate was in 2004?

england didnt turn up , they get paid to much , they didnt fight for the jersey , germany passed them of the park , to many prima donnas in this england team , to many foreighn players in the premier league making this the so cauld best league in the world ? take the foreighn players out of the premiership it would be lucky to have a better status than the SPL , and thats crap ?

Oh dear 'the war' ' 65years ago_________' wouldnt be around if --

Very good, what happened to"magnanimous in victory gracious in defeat"

Germany beat England because in 2010 they were a lot better.Thats it, end of story.

In 2014 England might be good and Germany crap. How about looking forward to 2014 instead of back to 1940. or 1914 or 1815.

As for Englands performance, pathetic and no use putting all the blame on the manager.Wasnt his fault Rooney wouldnt run more thyan 5 feet after the ball . Mind you Defoe off and Emile Heskey on ,what was that about?

Dont let them wear the England Shirt again ,leave them to concentrate on adverts and making money.

Although ,not much of an advert 'You too can wear adidas boots and play like a diddy"

Take the whole of the under 21 team ,lean mean and with fire in their bellies, and work with that.Give the manager £100,000 a year plus £50k for everywin and minus £50k for every loss.

I'm afraid the TV pundits and sports journalists must shoulder a lot of the blame here.

They have built the nation up to believing England could win this tournament by being in the weakest group. Only after the first 2 games most level headed people realized that if you are really struggling against what most would see as poor quality, lower grade teams then you have no chance against the cream of the world.

I'm not an England fan but I cannot believe there is no home grown talent, both players and managers in the premier league.

If the English FA react to this the right way then Germany would have done them a big big favour.

Is'nt it strange that most of the German team played together in the under 21's team. they've got it right - start at grass roots level again and bring the youngsters through. It may take 10 - 15 years but it'll be worth it.

Englands next game is a friendly in August, Hungary I think. I think all true England supporters should show how they feel by not buying a ticket to see the game. For the good of English football.

The German papers are saying the disallowed goal by Lampard is payback for the 1966 world cup final goal that they say wasn't
