I think Al-shaheen is the best I have tried on our side but I have heard good things about the one up the road to Catalkoy on the left, don't remember the name

Al Shaheen Karakum is our favourite for eat in on the East side, Al Shaheen Lapta for us if we go West.

Riaz at the Happy Valley is great for eat in or take away. His is a brilliant little place and authentic village food can be eaten there on request. Riaz himself is a true gem.

Rafters I guess is our 3rd choice and is great IF there are enough staff on when it's very busy.

The Grove food is good too.

Lots of people love The Courtyard.

Personal choice I guess at the end of the day, enjoy finding THE place for you

There is not alot to choose between them, cos they are all run by the same people, Jashan's is probably the pick though.

I always find the curry too hot at Jashans, normally have vindaloo which I can handle in most places but at Jashans it more like a phal. More palatable at The Punjab even tho its the same people. Why did they close the Oleander? They did a nice curry too?

Doh, curry taste buds are going now ;-)

without a doubt Jashans in Karaoglanoglu is the one that produces curries most like those we get in the UK and in particular Glasgow which is pretty famous for it's curry houses

I rate Jashan's as good. Orleander was better (closed down) Nosheen without doubt the best for us.

Sheraz is the one in Catalkoy, turn off at the Dedemans resort turing on the main road and it's up a couple of hundred yards on the left.

Very good it is too... H&N I think you will find it does 'hit the spot'.

Up to now, counting ALL favourable mentions, where people have offered multiple choices, I make the score -

Nosheens 7

Jashans 5

Punjab 4

Al Shaheen2

Grove 2

Rafters 2

Courtyard 1

Happy Valley 1

Nosheens are still ahead if one only counts 'No.1' ratings...

As Returning Officer, I have, of course forfeited my vote, - besides I don't want to fall out with Riaz, Jeff, Mo, or anyone else - It's the thought of finding an extra load of Chillies on my plate 'by accident'

Nefise

You require Chicken Tika the best is Rafters in Ozankoy up the back road from your shop

It hits the spot and is just like Mother India in Wolverhampton(award winning chef) genuine freshly prepared food

You can have it as hot or mild as you like there is none of that "I wish I hadn't " three hours latter

The surroundings after dark in summer are to die for

Abas and the staff are really good attentive

The onion bargies are the best even better than the bargie shop in Great Brickiln Street Wolverhampton only complaint the portion is to big so one has the OB the other garlic prawn go and enjoy

Mrs W rates it as her favourite indian

Keith, you missed out Sheraz - always wanted to try it but not done so yet!

Wanderer, Swine!!!!!! I had almost wiped the bargie shop in Great Brickiln Street Wolverhampton from my mind - now its back and my mouth has started to water yet agaain. Many bags of bits have we bought from there and section parties were catered for at pennies cost and fat bellies results - what a place it was. Used to drive the 16 miles to Wellington as well for the take away from the Royal Bengal - must have been mad but it means that the trip from Ozankoy to Lapta to try all the ones out here is just a "Hop".

Courtyard curry has been the same for at least 10 years, always hits the spot for us and always more than we can eat - also find theirs to be the best Tarka Dhal anywere here, yet!

Could not put anyone of them as "Best" as all dishes are different (some good, some better) at every place.

8 of us went to Al Shaheens and everyone said it was the best they had on the island.

8 more people came on a boat tour and said they too had by chance chosen Al Shaheens, Karakum and it was great.

Depends where you live as to what restaurant comes top.

Def has to be Sheraz, just down the road from the Fez.

All the rest this side of town all taste the same! There Sunday roast is very good as well.

Definitely Sheraz.

Nosheens is the only one that I've tried which tastes anything like genuine bengali cooking. I was quite surprised when the proprietor said his chef was not bengali. I really like Riaz (Jashans/Punjab) and all of Mo's family (too many to mention). But Nosheen is unconnected to all those and is in my opinion THE BEST!

My wife and I went to Nosheen's yesterday and sampled their lunch menu. What fantastic value !!

4 popodums, a choice of 2 starters (onion barjee or vegetable pakora) a choice of about 10 main courses (30 really I suppose as you could have chicken, lamb or vegetable) with either rice or a nan bread and dessert (ice cream). All for TL15 per head !!!

Enjoy !!

Just returned from Nosheens this evening and it was a first class meal with friendly staff and not expensive. I have been to many Indian restaurants here but I think Nosheens is the best I have been to.

Rafters.....their Chicken Jalfrezi actually does have green peppers in it! Most of the others we have tried do not and just decorate the top of the curry with a piece of sliced pepper. Rafters are also more flavoursome as you can taste the cardamon pods and other spices they use. If you order different curries they are all different tastes and look different aswell.

In so many places the sauce is the same whatever you order.

Enjoy!
