Ryanair have been talking about stand up tickets, and charging to use the toilets.

No thanks, Ercan or Larnaca!

Would not use them myself, but good as increases competition and others may like them?

Surprised that no-one noticed that the flights (if allowed) will trial from ITALY and GERMANY.

Dont see how this will benefit people in UK.

Only if you have family friends in these countries, or prospective customers?!

As I already have to get a connection to London for Ercan flights (from Glas)

it might be an idea to visit relatives on continent en route. Not keen on Ryanair

myself but all competition is good, and at least they are usually puntual.

Don't think that sort of publicity does them any good at all!

Re Msg 7 and 10,

Mark has got this one right! Ryanair (and O'Leary in particular) do not care what kind of publicity they get as long as people and the media are talking about them. The BBC did them a huge favour with their sandwich 'expose' earlier this year. Ryanair and O'Leary came out smelling of roses, the BBC just looked silly.

The prospect of Ryanair coming to either Larnaca or Paphos is very slim. Consider that the passenger service charge at Dublin (their base) is €15 for return trip and is a source of constant complaint for the airline. The current charge at Larnaca is €33! Now go figure.

The target market for any airline would have to be the UK (and maybe Ireland). Ryanair have a very strictly observed 3000 mile rule to allow a fast turn around of their aircraft. As Cyprus is on the extreme limit of this distance, with a less than guaranteed passenger load, I do not think they will be flying there soon.

Of course, Ryanair will continue to be talked about. Result!

MMMM is right it is all part of their free publicity machine...

There is no such thing as bad publicity , they never bring in all these charges for toilets etc..

People know they are cut price so expect a cut price service.

Having flown Ryanair as a last resort, cut price they may claim, when you consider all the add ons they are not cheap.

RyanAir gets lots of publicity by making "interesting" announcements from time to time... Others get publicity by making claims that they will fly an A-Lister directly in to Ercan for a party at their new hotel.

Must all be graduates from the O'Leary School of Marketing.

That next publicity stunt for RyanAir could be that they are starting Direct Flights to Ercan from Stansted?

If you read the small print you know what it is costing and what you are going to get for your money. So if you can't stand their ethics then don't fly with them.

But who could stand over 4 hours looking at those bright yellow seat backs!!

Think what they could come up with to sell you in all that time, scratch cards would only be a start!

I've flown with Ryanair twice and both times it cost very little and was right on time - leg room was better than with monarch and as good as easyjet

I hope they do start flying into Larnaca from Stansted -it would be great to have another option now that CTA have gone to the wall.

We have flown with RyanAir many times (15+) all over Europe and have never paid more than £75 return inclusive, many flights costing less than £50 return. Its all about taking advantage of their special offers (I am registered for their emails) and we always travel with 10kg hand luggage only. Its surprising how much stuff you can get into a little trolley bag when you have to, and especially when you are taking light-weigh summer clothes.

We always buy a fresh 'Pret' sandwich at the airport, or why not take you own tasty packed lunch?

Can't say I think a lot of Mr (I love myself) O'Leary, but you've got to hand it to him, he's a clever guy !!!
