Hi

I have a couple of chipped pool filters which cannot be removed (glued / mastic'd in) which has produced sharp edges on feet.

Does anyone know of a product like an underwater 'putty' that can be used to smooth off the edges and then sets hard? Preferably white in colour. Would rather not drain the pool to carry out repairs.

Maybe TRNC Vaughan can help? Thanks in advance

Why not smooth off the sharp edges with 'wet 'n dry' sandpaper - I doubt there's any putty, or glue, that will hang on to the type of plastic that these units are made of - they certainly won't be PVC.

better to file off the rough edges,nothing really sticks to the plastic for very long.

Guys - thanks for the advice.. really appreciate it. I think I'll try the Pratley's Putty route first (already sourced some) and if that fails then out comes the file.



Thanks for the offer of scuba Mike ('quackers') - the offending filter is in the shallow end / professional diver myself (but will probably use the duck dive method and take 10 times longer to finish the job!!!).

Hi there

If you are working in the shallow end then you may find a short length of the round electrical ducting shoved down an old snorkel may do the trick. You can use some silicone to make it watertight. With a weight belt on you will not need to come up for air. Works for me.

I have some Pratley's putty here in North Cyprus.



I bought some back from the UK last month. Great stuff, and can be used underwater. This can be applied and smoothed over to give a good finish.
