It's a small coaster, in cargo (possibly a sand carrier), probably with engine difficulties and standing to while repairs are made.

The ship in question is the M/V Zinnet Mete, 12300 tons DWT. Registered in Istanbul. Built as a general cargo / bulk carrier. Probably engaged in the sand trade.

Heard some wild theories last night about what she actually could be!

There must be a rip tide. When I saw it last night it was opposite the Lapta Strip not at Alsancak. Took little notice as I thought all the bright lights were due to the EFES I had on board !

I can assure you that it has nothing to do with the oil and gas industry.

It is definitely a 'grain' carrier whether the product is sand or grain remains to be seen.

The two crane like structures fore and aft are suction pipes for off loading its cargo.

It is either anchored offshore because its port for offloading is busy or as previously stated it may have engine problems. Either way it is not doing anything at the moment and I am sure the crew are sunbathing on deck.

Have my cousins in the south been informed of the fact that a ship may have the audacity to break down within the waters of the pseudo state? How dare she? Does she have permission from the roc for this sort of activity? What flag does she carry? the roc SS must be immediately informed of her activities and a black mark must be entered in the roc's action to be taken against index.

Where is APC/Oracle and the rest of my southern cousins to report on this mater. You is fallen asleep and the donkey of rizoGaRpazzo will expecting an explenation.

Sorry to disagree with you AJ but the "suction pipes" are actually 4 cranes which are stowed jib to jib. Trust me I'm an ex merchant navy man!

The two ships are sheltering here because of the weaather system that was affecting the Turkish coast the weather is now abating and they will move on as and when.
