i would like to reduce or eliminate calcification in the pipes and appliances. is filtering the best and most cost effective way to do this or is softening the water better. i would appreciate some advice on this.

Good Question Doormat, I shall also look forward to seeing the answers to this.

It would be good to get some honest views if poss. not just from the Sales angle. But consumers actual feedback.

Have a look at our http://www.softcleanwater.co.uk web site - there are various products from different suppliers to give you some ideas.

The main concerns are how you get store and use your water and then some thoughts can be given.

Most filters are not designed to stop lime scale at the levels sometimes prevalent* in water supplied in the TRNC. *Each village will have different levels as it often comes from different sources.

For 8/10 weeks a year usage most water softening would not prove a great benefit.

The set up and running cost would be high in regard to a limited benefit.

If you fitted a polyphosphate unit or another in line one (magnetic or electrolytic) the cost would be toward the lower end but again the benefits would probably not be great enough to warrant it.

Both types of unit can be found on our site:

As an alternate thought you might want to try the EcoPure unit Eco9 which is designed to soften & purify your water but please ensure it is always immersed in water once in use

Dudley Msg 6 - if you email me off board I will try to assist you better - the essential information on the Eco 9 is on our site. I can email you the manufacturers spec sheets on that and Eco 8 which will then give you an idea of what they offer and say it will do for you.
