Natasha Butler- the Spokesperson for the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle- has said that the European Union is not pressuring Turkey to choose between the EU membership and Cyprus. Speaking to the Anatolian News Agency, the EU Spokesperson Natasha Butler reiterated the EU Commission’s support towards a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem and confirmed Turkey’s significant contribution towards a settlement.

Noting that the EU is not forcing Turkey to make a choice between EU membership and Cyprus, Butler however said that the Cyprus issue had an impact on many other important political issues.

Füle’s Spokesperson added that a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus will have a positive effect on Turkey’s EU accession process.

For the millionth time, Turkey should open her borders to RoC and charge them a million times what they charge everybody else, after all the EU is not a communist system is it?

Long live capitalism.

yfred,

as an institution the eu is neither communist or capitalist

...it is a vast and wasteful beauracracy

while some would say it mainly operates in the interest

of eu founding fathers, france and germany

and the poorer and peripheral states still enjoy kickbacks

in exchange for their votes

perhaps it isn't entirely a christian club

since there is talk of membership for kosovo and bosnia

...but big moslem countries "need not apply", surely
