Yum - love them but only ever had the cultivated ones, a bit like live mussels and cockles etc... they need to be fed on meal/four to clear the grit from their intestines .. but dressed in galic, parsley and oil, grilled - such an indulgence!

Can't say I've seen them "in the wild". Seen plenty in old broken fridges in Cypriots gardens. Where/when do we catch them?

I have had them a few times (slow learner), but the fact you have to hide the taste with garlic, tells you all you need to know.

Yenibob...you can eat them without Garlic, but they taste like whelks without the sea saltiness, the Garlic adds to the flavour........Try them again they are really good

They are a Cypriot delicasy, picked from rocks.

And the ones not tried them.....................you haven't a clue what you are missing. My mum used to cook them for us in cus cus/bulgur and yougart on the side in their shells and give us niddles to put hole through bottom and suck from the top.Have since tried other ways of them being cooked, specialy in french restaurants in London and decided that my mum's way of cooking them is no longer my favorite.

ps.The ones know me and my mum:I'll never forgive you if you tell her.
