Hsbc /Pensions and other problems. I'm stuck !!!Who can help?

Firstly a few months ago,my brother send a trial £100 from Spain...despite on official HSBC paperwork this has gone missing.The sender has been informed "your Bank has it !"Cost £25.Bank says "no"

AND NOW,My UK pension has gone missing too !!!!

I know it was processed by City Bank,and have the vestment number,on 25th March.



The payment has not been returned,so who do I talk to here in Girne,to make them understand?

HSBC are insisting on a Swift code but UK pensions cannot give me this.

No,I do not have any Banks in UK.

Please anyone got ideas where to go next.ie anyone getting their pensions paid from UK direct to a Bank here?

If being transferred electronically you have to have a swift code, name of account holder etc.

Hi - having read your post I'm not quite sure which bank's swift code you need, but think it's Citibank, so have attached a link for you:-

Hopefully this will help as long as the payment is coming from Citibank rather than that being the intermediate bank. If you need any more help let me know cos I'm in UK and also have worked in banking for 30+ years.

Hi Mike I have my pension paid into the ING bank in Girne every month and have not had a problem, ever. (So far touch wood.)

Always find the staff very helpful and I always see some Turkish Army in there so I assume they must be using the bank to transfer money home.

Andrew 4232, the pension people know I'm not in the UK and there is no problem there.

Julie advised me not to have my pension transfered here as there is a fee so i kept my uk account open and it goes there.

Yes there is a fee, but so is there a fee to draw money on a UK bank, (unless you have a premier account with HSBC I believe) But thats the bank causing this problem, and I am not rich enough to qualify for one of those accounts and Nationwide have shut the door on free withdrawals, so I would rather have my pension paid here and have my money readily available when I want it without worries.

halffull unless it has changed in the last few weeks if you have a flexaccount you can draw money in sterling from HSBC at no cost then pop along to the exchange bureau that is what Agile and I do/ I know there is a charge if you draw lira or any other currency

We have an HSBC Advance account in the UK to which our pensions are paid in. It costs £12.95 a month (cheaper I think when you first open one) but all ATM withdrawals are free so unless you need more than £300 each time it is still cheaper than having money transferred here.

Not a banking expert only relaying my experience, I see mikes problem is with HSBC and PERSONALLY they are not a bank I would use, having had dealings with them in the UK.

In the old days when I resided in UK I would have said I wouldn't use them because they were a "foreign" bank (Honk kong & Sanghi Banking Co) but thats not appropriate anymore.

My problems are this:I severed all links with UK,i.e. no Bank accounts,so I need money from Government Pensions sent direct here.

I gave Pensions instructions how to send to HSBC Girne.Swift code,Iban no.On 24th March it was sent from UK.

I have a payment vestment from City Bank with a unique number,and City Bank have confirmed it has gone to HSBC here.And as it hasn't been creditted or returned then HSBC in Turkey or Girne MUST have it.

But HSBC Girne claim they haven't nor can they trace from the unique vestment number.

As other members write,HSBC seem a law to themselves.As useless as tits on a chicken,or a chocolate fireguard.Second in line for this accolade are the Pensions Service in Newcastle.I have spent at least 20 hours on Skype talking to different people there.I am no bette off.Wait 'til Monday

Well looking at my own statement from Nationwide,for last month, I made 2 x £300 withdrawals from HSBC machine and there were no charges applied, just straight debit of £300 on each occasion halfull.



Hope this helps but of course it doesn't help Mike find his 'mislaid' pension.

msg 15. That's right no charge for sterling withdawals from Nationwide debit card, also if you use their credit card and get the charge in sterling you don't pay any charges we paid our 5 week Pia Bella Hotel bill on 11th January with credit card and paid the bill in full on the 18th February and not charged any interest.

and speak to them. HSBC Bank, Girne is a branch of the above.

Mike - I had the same problem with my first ever pension transfer. It went missing. Happily, Julie found it, though I never found out what had happened to it.

I suspect sometimes money in transit is shifted sideways into a suspense account, where it sits earning interest until someone screams!

Phil,thanks for that.I'll give her a try first...The current account superviser,Sercal,has been useless.

If his wife wants sex,I 'm sure he says "not without a Swift number".
