Hi Clayton,

So is it a left at Tatlisu coming from Esentepe.Usually i turn right, over the mountains untill you reach a garage, then turn left, and carry on past the 1001 shop. Then left at the bottom.Right would take you to Famagusta.Hope this makes sense,

Grey.

Why has nobody bothered to mention the junction past Kaplica?

At this junction, turn right and you go past Buyukkonuk and com to the Famagusta-Dikarpaz road near Bafra.

Turn left and this will eventually take you to Yeni Erenkoy,at the moment you can only go as far as Mehmetcik before the road runs out.For wildlife lovers this road is amazing, you have to travel it to understand.

I am currently on route from Scotland to Karpaz gate and am wondering about port of entry status and ability to keep my boat there as home port for at least a year.

I have been presented with reasonable marina fees but would like to hear from current berth holders.

thanks

To all prospective visitors for Karpaz Gate marina, despite the statement from clipper50 Karpaz Gate marina is not yet a port of entry.

Clearance and imigration must be compleated in either Famagusta or Kyrenia before proceading to the marina.

You are also reminded that landing illegally in Kibris before formalities is likley to end in prosecution.

Just a word of warning.

There is also a very active sailing community in Kyrenia and has been for some time, there is also chartering already available.

Advice on anchorages and cruising around Kibris can be easily obtained either from myself or other yacht owners in Delta marina.

We welcome the new liveaboards to Kibris and Karpaz Gate you dont need to reinvent the wheel we have lots of information that may help you. The CA's document by Peggy wasn't exactly accurate as regards residency.

Went up there yesterday and the Karpaz Gate will be a fabulous amenity when it is completed.

Indeed it is already a very impressive facility. Lovely restaurant and great iced coffee

Christiana, the marine office manager, is an extremely helpful and very informative lady.

It depends what the repair is? there is a very good upholsterer that has done repairs for me. if it is just stiching then he is fine. he has ultraviolet profe thread if it is more complicated I can arrange for the repair to be done by North Sails, Israel, Easy the owner is here quite often I act as his representitive here in the North.

Oh and by the way Karpaz Gate is not a port of entry as yet.

Verified today.

Hi WAZ-24-7,

We were at Karpaz Gate Marina 11th Aug.

Although the marina's not yet finished, there are a few good sized boats berthed there.

Security should not be a problem.

http://www.karpazbay.com/Sea/Content/English/MarinaPlan/.aspx

If your happy with berth fees & location, go for it.

The new road from Tatlisu is virtually finished, app 100 metres of track left to finish.

Hi

A quick update about KGM:

You still have to check in at Girne or Famagusta.

Washing machines and tumble driers have arrived - awaiting connnection.

Still no mini market, so we go by dolmus to Famagusta to do our food shopping.

Construction continues around the marina.

The travel lift has arrived and they are busy concreting the yard area.

3 yachts have arrived in the past two days.

'Happy hour' starting Monday at Hemingways!

That's about it.

Port of Entry has not been granted and this is done from outside but there are people on site who will offer hands on assistance which makes the whole process a lot easier. The person I spoke to (Roy) was very helpful in assisting me. Also the food in Hemmingways is very good and worth a try.
