There will be an excavation of a turtle nest tonight, and the babies will be released into the sea when it is dark.

Meet at Guzelyali Restaurant at 7.00pm Karsiyaka beach. Everyone is welcome.

Please remember that no flash cameras are allowed. The brilliant light would blind the turtles. Thank you.

I was lucky enough to witness this in Sri-lanka many years ago. However the turtle helpers kept the babies in salt water tanks for 48 hours before releasing to harden their shells. Any albinos were also kept forever, as they wouldn't have survived in the wild. It was a wonderful place - they had permanent homes for sick and injured turtles too!! Is there anywhere on the Island that look after sick and injured turtles?
