Just seen a Kingfisher flying by the sea at the far end of Karsiyaka beach.

We used to see some round the rocks at Silver Rocks but havn't seen any for a couple of years.

Anyone else seen any?

I see few kingfishers every morning at Kyrenia yacht harbour...

Usually they are on the edge of the breakwater wall, diving in and out of the water, fishing..

I have been meaning to go down there early one morning equipped with a camera+telephoto lens to take few photos of them but haven't got round to it yet..

Good news and thanks for posting something nice. I used to see a Kingfisher fishing off the rocks at the bat at Catalkoy but havent for a couple of years and was afraid they had been frightened away by the people and noise when it became a beach club. So glad they are still here.

Before I discovered Cyprus I thought Kingfishers were fresh water birds.!

Always used to see them at Deniz Kizi bay, but come to think of it, haven't seen any down there for a couple of years now.

Funnily enough Pete the girls and I saw one at Silver Rocks a couple of weeks ago and I also saw one a number of years ago in Kyrenia Harbour sitting on a boat right next to the restaurant we were at.

Thanks Iceman, I live at Ali Dana at the harbour entrance next to the Gumruk on the sea, I will look out for them, possibly my favourite bird, fond memories from my childhood in the brooks in Kent, lots about in those days..........

After a visit to the Eco day village festival a couple of Sundays ago,I sat @ the tatlisu log cabin restaurant enjoying lunch and I watched one there for 20mins or so! That's what I call a great way to spend Sunday! Back in UK now with grey skies and a long winter ahead!
