Please be aware that if you need any repairs carried out on Generators etc., then look around, We took our generator to the 'Alsancak' chap, who is always busy and whilst the electric strike was on, even more so. Our generator packed up and we took it along to him. We was told that we would need a new 'piston' which would cost 350tl and this would need to be paid up front so that he could order the part straight from 'Honda'. we said 'is this the only cost'm and was told that there may be extra cost as he had not yet stripped it down. I could not believe that he was given me a price for something he had not even looked at, so we took it away and asked a friend to recommend an alternative. We took it to Ozankoy to a chap called 'Mustafa'. he phoned us when he knew exactly how much it would cost and asked if it was ok to carry on. We was given a price of 60tl as all it needed was cleaning. If anyone would like his number it is: 0533 8683265. It is working fine.

Yes Mustafa is great with generators and also sharpens the chain saw when necessary too.

I have given his telephone number and it may be better to call as he speaks quite good english. We were taken by our friend but you pass Lemar in Karakum and it is on the same side of the road further along on the main drag but up turning in between shops. If you have no joy then get to me and I will ask our friend exactly where it is for you.

Our friend also took his generator to the guy in Alsancak who quoted him 450tl in advance he told him it needed a new carburettor & something else even without looking at it properly. As the generator had only done 3 hours work he took it away & asked for advice - a new petrol hose was fitted & away it went!

Thanks for the tip about Mustafa we will ask him to come & look at our very sickly generator.

The guy in Alsancak is a real crook I took mine there a few years ago and he told me that it would cost 350 tl but I thought it was too much an took it somewhere else. 100 tl was all i paid .

Remonds me of "generator Mike' the guy who used to fit genny's often to holiday homes then wait for the people to go back to UK, and nick the genny to sell on to someone else .... allegedly.

I believe he eventually did a runner.

Anyhow, back on track, where exactly is this rip-off merchant so that people cqn avoid him properly?

Is it the chap who works out of a container on the roadside just past the Ravine?

Yes, it is right opposite where they make gravestone & other stonework etc., the more people that know about him, the sooner he will realised that we are not all easy meal tickets. We have all had to work hard for what we have got but they only see us as cash machines.

Thanks for the directions honeybun. I am confused though, as you originally said he was in Ozankoy, but your directions seem to indicate a location on, or close to, the Main road to/from Girne! Never mind, I will phone him, as you suggested.

I would say Mustafa is in Karakum but friends live very near there and their address is Ozankoy. As suggested ring him first, he's a top man with generators.

Honeybun and Panchchat - Thank you, I found him.

From Girne heading east - about a quarter of a mile past Karakum Lemar you will see a red sign for Ziraat Bankasi on your right - continue for another 100 yards or so and you will see on the left the sign for the Stroll Inn restaurant - turn right there (just before the Eczanese) down a 'lane' towards Cikis Garaj and veer to the left just before the entrance - you will see the sign for repairs of garden machinery.

He is a lovely man. He actually got my chainsaw working, and diagnosed a probable damaged carburetta membrane, which he will replace for a few TL if he has one (the guy at Alsancak diagnosed a broken piston which he would fix for around 200 TL!!!

He deserves all the business we can give him.

I am grateful also for this information, will take my gennie to him tomorrow, have a leaking fuel pipe I think but it needs a service too.

Happy to give work to honest people and its great that this Forum has spread the word about his integrity.

Looks like you have got the guy in Alsancak weighed up. He's a bad one, he has had 180 TL of my money and my strimmer since last March and at the moment I am struggling to get either back.

I'm sorry to add to this thread this way: DON'T go to the "Alsancak generator man", he's a cowboy. Telling stories and inventing your generator problems while you listen to him. (Been there three times with a generator - paid the money - and the problem was NOT solved). Don't go there.

Here's where you should NOT go: ▶ [ http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/no_go_alsancak_generator_man.jpg ].

Thanks very much for the good advice. Took our generator to Mustafa in Karakum. He replaced the fuel pipe, a wiring problem and renewed a switch, a fuse and a service.

Total cost 80 tl. and his manners were impeccable.

He deserves to do well. He obviously does - his yard was full of mowers and generators.

If any of you need to get generators serviced this is the man to go to.
