Hello, does the Turkiye Bankasi have any branches/ATMs in the southern part (Greek) of Cyprus? Are banking problems to be expected when moving between the two different parts of Cyprus?

No Turkish banks in the south, not even an HSBC because they had one in the north.

Cards form each other sides local banks will not be recognised, and you can't transfer money between banks north and south wihtout going through a correspondent elsewhere.

Cash easily carried across the crossings though.

Cards issued from banks in the South can be used to extract cash from ATMs in the North.

Only problem I have ever heard of carrying cash over was a CG who won a lot of money in a casino one night.

By the time he got to the crossing he was fuly searched and the money confiscatted, don't know what happened to it from there, but he was clearly set up by the casino.

No doubt the casinos also give you your oney back if you loose!! ............... not!

Hide it in the car and without a tip off would never be found.

gs - never tried our south cards in the north, was told no-go, but good to know in emergency. I did try to transfer once but couldn't do it.

yrret, mes 7. Yes, very handy to know. I was stopped for speeding in the north (new camera!!) last year on a Sunday with not sufficient TLs to pay the fine at the crossing back to the south. The ATM came to my rescue.

South issued cards are also accepted (and work) in all outlets in the north taking credit cards.
