@ msg 5 and 6: No. Both publications use a website. An eMagazine is a stand-alone publication, usually in pdf format. The eMagazine I'm writing about here can be downloaded in formats for iOS, Android and more.

PB, One is in Turkish and the other a 'glorified' advert publication. If DC wants to provide a new and perhaps more relevant, interesting e-magazine, he should surely be applauded not jumped on for letting people know about the launch.

@ msg 9: The contributions of several British (of English and Welsh origin) and American lecturers and scholars do not need any editing. The Cypriot Turkish contributors will write in the English language as good as they can - if I can read it English speaking people certainly can also, don't you think? More info on request and to follow anyway...

how often will it be up-dated

will it have any bias (maybe anti-british)

Perhaps I can answer on Hans behalf but you must understand that these answers are specific to you phil.

It will be free to download to everyone apart from you.

It will be updated as soon as there is update to add.

Why what do you want to advertise?

The only bias will be toward anyone with the initials PB

In fairness if available worldwide

it may work

what concerns me would be the opinions

allowed/not allowed

there are many Cypriots around the world

that would use it to keep up

or just to keep base

At least it won't bore many posters of this forum: they are very busy counting charity money.

And if their numeracy skills are as brilliant as their literacy, this should amuse them for quite a while.

I have just had a brainwave, perhaps philbailey could write a regular column on his experiences in the TRNC as he appears to know everything about life out here. Unfortunately phil it would not be a payable submission but because I know you just have so much information and you love the TRNC you will submit for no remit.

@msg 65: Interesting comment, Hans. I guess the business of fake IDs has been done to death elsewhere, although I can't understand the apparent need for them.

But of more interest to me is this constant negativity by some people - in this thread selpak, philbailey, CyprusNow, spider, wynyardman and babydoll/Nigel Watson - who seem intent only on tearing into anything posted by certain other people, regardless of its content. Seems a little nasty and seriously unintelligent.

The eMagazine proposal sounds to me like a good idea, and I'll be keen to have a look at the first issue.

For goodness sake! Why do so many threads have to turn into personal insult competitions ?

Give this a chance, it hasn't even been published yet and some people are trying to criticise it when they haven't even seen it. I wish you every success DC and look forward to seeing it.

Because one reaps what one sows. He spent years unremitingly criticising people on here for their poor spelling, their poor grammar, being ignorant, being uneducated, being English etc. It shouldn't take more than a year or so to even the scales.

msg72, CyprusNow .....

Oh come on, tit for tat? he said a bad word so I'll say a bad word? I've used this forum for 3 years now and am well aware of DC's online approach, but just because he sometimes posts in a way that we may dislike doesn't mean we should all behave the same way.

My late mum spent my childhood telling me that I should "treat others the way that you'd want them to treat you". Good advice which I try to follow in all aspects of my life to this day, online and off.

@ msg 72, CyprusNow: (...) He spent years unremitingly criticising people on here for their poor spelling, their poor grammar, being ignorant, being uneducated, being English etc. (...)

▶ Almost right! But I'm not anti-English - everybody, even my many British friends in TRNC's British community, knows I'm anti-Brit. That's why I live here. I'm a masochist*.

* Please add masochist to your list. For future use.

P.S. "unremitingly" should be spelled as "unremittingly".

I have heard the old adage that bad publicity is better than no publicity, you must all be very talented - managing to do a review and give out bad publicity before the emagazine is launched?

Try Syrup of Figs and Selpak!

Good luck to you Hans in this new venture and I am sure that it will be full of interesting items, we are looking forward to it.

I am sure you will have no problem with ignoring the green-eyed monsters!

Wonder if there will be a rush for the Syrup of Figs?

I must say I find Dutch Crusader to be a nasty childish, pedantic racist.

But I'll reserve judgement on the publication for 12 months.

You can hide your real intentions and inner feelings only so long and then they reveal themselves. DC usually only lasts a few posts but may manage to suppress them for longer in the publication.

@ msg 79, Millwall123: (...) Also, make sure your anti-virus is up to date. The links he provides usually attach spyware to your PC. (...)

▶ I don't care a bit what anonymous cowards call me, but blatant lies are a different matter. I knew one day you'd make an error in your continued attacks. And now you did it. I'll happily report your lie to the moderators.

It's not a lie it's a fact.

Several links you have provided on here linking to websites you are connected to have placed cookies and spyware on my PC.

I'm simply advising people to avoid them having similar problems.

We have our little disagreements now and then but personnaly I am looking forward to seeing this and I hope that it is as good as I think it could be.

It is without question that Hans has a vast knowledge of the history of Cyprus and the TRNC so if this eMagazine has a mixture of past and present it could be very interesting.

Good Luck.

@ msg 81, Millwall123: (...) Several links you have provided on here linking to websites you are connected to have placed cookies and spyware on my PC. (...)

▶ You don't know what you are talking about.

1 : I'm not connected to websites. I maintain two websites and they are free of spyware.

2 : Many websites place cookies - if you don't want them tell your browser to refuse them (as I do) or check the cookie before accepting.

3 : I don't place spyware on computers. And spyware can be kept away from your computer if you use good anti-virus software.

So your accusation in msg 79 is a lie and you are a liar.

You have placed links to a website about castles and maps.................they might even say Crusader I can't remember but they placed spyware on my computer and that is 100% fact verified by an independent I.T company that sorted it out and cleaned the PC

3 : I don't place spyware on computers. And spyware can be kept away from your computer if you use good anti-virus software

The website you linked to placed spyware. I agree about the ant-virus - that's what I warned about.

I do not lie, it's not the English way.

▶ Exactly what we have discussed and what our ultimate goal is - after starting in a modest way. But covering 10.000 years of Cyprus' history requires many expert contributors and they are not always easy to find.

P.S. Thank you for your 'Good Luck'!

I'm afraid that they may be correct DC, the last time I visited your website (allcrusades.com ) my anti-virus software gave me several warnings about spyware. I'm NOT accusing you, it's very easy to infect a server without the webmaster being aware of it. Perhaps you could run a scan on the server, or get the hosting company to do it?

Last comment,

Amazing the reference to spyware is classed as malicious accusation but the nasty childish pedantic racist is considered fair comment !!!

The presence of spyware is a provable FACT......the rest is opinion.

DC........you call yourself dutchcrusader and call ME anonymous. I don't know you from Adam.

The only defence you have is to keep calling me a liar...........and you know that's not true.
