Hi All,

My name's Les and I'm over on holiday next month. I'm a (very) amateur astronomer back home and would like to make contact with fellow astronomers or a local Astro' club. I'd love a quick look look through a telescope to enjoy your beautiful North Cyprus skies, but my own 'scope weighs 27kg and they won't let it on as hand-luggage!

I gather this subject has come up before but fizzled out. Perhaps there are no 'organised' astronomy group as such - but there are certainly telescope owners! Any help, pointers or invitations gratefully recieved.

Cheers, Les.

I know there used to be a restaurant (called Labores I think) halfway up the hill road to Karmi that used to have a very impressive electronic telescope on the roof (with a live TV feed to the restaurant). My wife and I saw Saturn's rings (incredible). Not sure if it is still trading though (I haven't been for at least 4 years)

Hi

Amateur too and in the same situation about bringing my scope out except I live and work here.

The dark skies are incredible, so great to be able to find so many constellations.

yes, Jonesey and wife, you never forget your first sight of Saturn.

Scope or clothes - I'm a girl - clothes of course.

ttoli can you send me the contact too please?

Les, keep in touch, I'll try to find out about the restaurant.

So incredible last night, the new crescent moon with Jupiter and Venus above.

We've got a telescope we've never used - was my Grandsons, its quite large - size I mean - dont know what sort of lens its got. would love someone to come round one night and show me how to use it. Saw Saturn and Jupiter for the first time from the local Club just below the big telescopes in Hawaii and was blown over - they had radio controlled ones - amazing - could have stayed there all night goggling at the stars!
