Have they stopped giving Europeans a separate ticket number now at the immigration office in Nicosia, as my friend was given number 58 today, the same queue as everyone else, and obviously didn't wait, as they had only done 29 tickets in 2h 45m.

Why should they give Europeans a seperate Numbered ticket and/or seperate queue?

Should be the same sequence of tickets regardless of who you are, and the same queue.

From my recent experience that is exactly what they do.

A long wait is inevitable - because they really need more staff on.

It has changed, last year expats were allocated an English speaking operator but this year it is not the case and if you end up with a non English speaking operator and you have problems then they will ask another operator that does speak English to help, but if they are dealing with someone else then you have to wait. And as an expat it does not matter how well you speak Turkish because if you end up with a non English speaking operator they cannot be bothered to even try to talk to you.

No problem it just takes a little bit longer.

On the subject of residency we got our letters from the muktar in Karsiyaka but he didn't put any stamps on it. Does anyone konw if we need stamps and if so how much, and can we just attach them to the letters after they have been signed?

Thanks, Lesley

tarry67,

I have just been this morning myself and it was packed with people. I went in looking for the ticket man to give me a ticket, I couldn't find him so asked one of the workers where he was. He asked me why I was there then directed me to the office directly opposite the waiting room where I stood for around 2 mins, then was called by one of the staff there. He took my results and passport, gave me a slip to go and pay further down the corridor and told me to go back after paying. I did this and the whole thing was done in 15 minutes, the waiting room was still full with people when I left.

What time did you get there? We got there at 9am. I got ticket 58 and they were only on no 8! So we went off, did some shopping and some 2 hours later went back and they were still only on no 29!

Will have another go tomorrow!

Message 4/7 - They left the stamps off when we went to renew our Muktars letter also, asked if I needed them and he said, no not any more. When we submitted our paperwork at the police stn I was told we needed 1.5tl stamps for Muktars letter; so make sure you have some spare stamps if you are getting your Muktars letter from Karsiyaka!!!

authentichoccie,

I arrived there at 10.20 and was out by 10.35. That's what I was saying, I didn't even get a ticket. Tomorrow when you go, just try going straight in to the office and act brazen about it...It's Worth a try.

Good Luck

Thanks Poochie, will give it a go. Must of just missed out today as just stuck my head in the waiting room, saw they were only on 29 and went. Wish I'd seen that little man that hands tickets out again now!

I would just go into office opposite the waiting room and give that a go, if the little man is not standing outside. It might be best that he isn't there actually, it worked for me.

Good Luck

I have a question. If one is getting residence as a spouse is working here with a work permit does the spouse need to come with you?
