I don't think anyone has been critical of Edith/Andy/Mike/Connie on Cyprus 44 threads. The only real criticism, which still stands is the lack of information coming out of SWB [Mike & Connie did a very good newsletter recently], and certainly the SWB website should be updated with recent pictures.

Andy & Edith are quite often slow in responding to e-mails, but I have found them both [and Mike & Connie] very helpful during visits to the site.

Who IS the plonker putting out the silly rumours about teetotal site, girlie bar etc?

Andy,

I as I am sure a lot of people no who you mean but do not believe everything you are told especially by sales.(no disrespect) I have found its better to form your own opinion once you actually meet people and not to go on here say.

looking at the December pictures the garvel heap on 117 does not indicate that a membrane is being laid to prevent weed growth which is a shame. Does anyone know any different?

Andy I had seen the picture previously I think edith said a bit of updating was being done b4 christmas I think it happened then, Unless they put a different pictur on with the same date. It does not really matter but I do think a membrane is important...are well Im on my 3rd glass of Rioja (I normally prefer Merlot)

So far as an alcohol free bar is concerned, I live here permanently on site and I've heard nothing about it, so I can only assume that's it's another wind-up like the one about all children in bed by nine o'clock and other rubbish of that sort.

Incidently I've been told by Mike that we will not own the restaurant or the shops and offices - this was in response to Keith and I asking him whether he thought a restaurant would be viable considering the few people on site at any one time even during holiday period. Further concerns were smells of cooking from restaurant particularly for people living near by as we dn't appear to have proper extraction facilities

Not sure what other facilities we won't own?

Regards

Hi Sheila

Yes Im 118PL or apartment block 118 apartment 5 as it is now known. Just some pictures of the outside front and back would be great if you have time. Also it would be good to get some of the pool full of water.

i have to say im very worried by whats come out, i have a e-mail off arthur that comfirms the greek family did turn up at site claiming they own the land. arthur seems more bothered with being ripped by RMS. what worries me most is the site will never sell out in the present climate of uncertainty over ownership and the world fincial climate . if we dont get something concrete from sweetwater bay to somehow clarify the situation i feel more damage will be done. why on earth they waited a week to tell us i dont know. .

Hi everybody,

There are some new photo's on the SWB website of the villa's.

There's also one general one of the childrens playground.

It's not finished yet but unless they put a soft floor down I don't think it would pass H&S in Britain.

Take care.

I am [for once] totally speechless [but I can still type], to hear that the "alcohol free zone" is not a wind up. I really don't see that RMS [and therefore by definition us] should be forced to pay for some miserable so and so to find out that the majority don't want a teetotal site. If they want to pay to canvas residents, then fair enough. Where does it all end? Should I canvas for a Man U free zone? Or Andy for a Hammer free zone?

Sweep, I totally agree with your sentiments. Really RMS should tell whoever it is to take a [very long] hike. Next time I'm over, I'd be happy to drive whomsoever it is to Ercan Airport.

Rocky, I'm feeling very faint again.......pass the Sauvignon Blanc.........in fact I'm desperate.......pass the meths!!!

Hi all,

Who the hell does this person think they are???

Control freak springs to mind !!!!

At the end of the day the site belongs to all 150 owners not one induvidual .

SWB and RMS ( in the greatest respect- no offence intended)need to say a firm NO to this persons demands as they do not have to answer to any one individual and those individuals need to know that they will not get their own way and they do not control ,run or own the swb site.

So bring on the champers opening ceremony and long live the bar/restaurant thats what I say!!

We are going to make sure we go down to the beach this time and check out the rocks, the kids said its really sharp stones so very uncomfy underfoot unless wearing flips flops or something. Maybe it should be swimmed ? Does anyone know if you can access both bays from our site?

we had postings on this on a previous thread also the suggestion of a jetty I think it will probably stay natural. The beach has large stones very uncomfortable to walk on but you dont get covered in sand. There once was a hint that level paved areas would be created but I would be surprised.

I've swam in our bay and also the bigger one next door.

It was absolutely murder getting in and out, I had to inch my way out on my bum, don't recommend nudists to do it.

There are big rocks either side of our small bay which were good for snorkelling.

I've heard about the jetty as well which would be good for getting into the sea but not good if it's got a naked SWB fisherman on it with a TV antenna.

Hi all,

Had a dream last night that I was swimming in the pool at swb??

Until my son woke me up at 7am!!!

Shame it was just a dream and the best one Ive had for ages aswell!!

It makes a difference from the falling off a cliff, loosing all my teeth or being chased through a derlict town in the pitch dark ones that I usually have!!

Hence why I was disappointed to get an early morning wake up call today!!

Anyone had any good or wacky dreams lately??

Or am I the only with a screw loose??

take care d x

P.S As for the boys Im sure its been non stop dreaming of nudies on the beach??

We have arrived! SWB is looking fab. The sun was out today and we have started taking pictures. So many differences since we saw it last august its amazing. Quite chilly at night though. Planting is underway and yes there is membrane beneath the gravel. The grassed areas are marked out for planting/turfing whatever it is they do over here so we will have green bits! Its so much easier to move around on site as the paths and roads are nearly all done. The problem with excess rainwater running down the site towards the pools has been addressed by storms drains being dug/placed stratigically.

More tomorrow night all. Of for Effes

We are at the Mountainview Hotel who cant do enough for us and as we were the only guests until today its great. Car hire through Baspinar, great service and value for money.

We have met up with the SWB and RMS guys and Anne and Patrick who are on site for 4 months and are settling in well and today we met StevieC.

Warm in the day and chilly at night. Going to a Casino tomorrow night!!

Can't see the "green shrubs" you're talking about, but I'm glad to see that "Sir Geoffrey Hurst Mansions" [aka 133] is coming on. I assume you were glad to see my boys hold the Gooners. Next year it'll be Gianfranco Zola's boys pushing for the Champion's League!!!

Good morning all,

We had a really great evening, Sheila at the Casino with the girls and Phil playing pool with the boys. Great company who made us feel so welcome. Back out to SWB today to take everyones photos especially a lovely sunny one of Andysue's view. More shops and Girne market to explore today. Yesterday I made it up to Phil for a few hours furniture/curtain watching by a visit to the Harley dealership that has just opened. So a night in at the Mountainview tonight I think uploading photos etc so watch this space.

Hi All,

Glad you are enjoying the snaps, if you have views they are from your own windows. The only ones we haven't done yet are for Sweep which we will do friday or saturday when we are next there. Sunsets are fantastic!

We do have some great shots of the site so watch this space especially as we hope to have some special ones by the end of the week. Lets just say the cleaners were in the pool today!!!!!!!

Even just within a few days the site has changed, plants are growing and the landscapers are due to do loads tomorrow and Friday. Seemed to be a lot of workers on site today. Andy, Connie and Mike have been great, as usual. C41 is moving on fast, they were laying the bitumen roof and preparing to soak test before laying the tiles. StevieC has now left for the UK having done a great job getting his place ready, despite a few hiccups If there are anymore requests for specific photos please let us know tomorrow and we will do friday or saturday.

Take care all

Hello SWBayers

back from sun and into the bloody freezing, saying that for those of you that are thinking of holidaying in Jan/Feb its very chilly in the evening.

Morning Mintys and Paddy and Anne it was great meeting you all.

Updates

1. Landscaping looking great bit to much gravel for my liking but there will be grass as well. As mintys mentioned there is a membrane and for every single plant and tree there is a sprinkler system attached so should develop quite quickly.

2. Whoever owns the villas C somethings I am very jealous, had a peek at all of them got to say extremely impressed with design and especially roof terrace.

3.pool is going to be filled this week

4. In my opinion we will not have a sustainable restaurant unless opened to public. Visited Steves bar which was on Sweet Homes development in Tatlisu(very Nice to) and he wouldnt survive unless was open to public especially during not peak months. I feel its a small sacrifice to pay to be a true holida

thanks steve sounds like its all coming on great, with regards to your comment about the bar resteraunt being open to public to make it viable im one hundred percent with you on this, kings bar on the turtle bay site is open to outside custom also. i wouldnt think they would even get a single enquiry to run it if this was made clear that its open only to SWBers. .

Hi Andy

RMS are doing a survey which is going to be emailed out shortly, in terms of what the residents exactly want(cant see many management companies doing that) as far as the results are concernd they will go with the majority vote. I really am hoping that most of the residents see sense and are happy about non residents using the restaurant and bar subject to conditions. Funny eneogh went for an indian on the last night and the owners had allready been to the site and expressed an interest, of doing all types of food including indian. that would be heaven as far as im concerened. As a rule of average at the peak the development would only run at 20-25% occupany so more activity at other time i feel would essential. Those people that object shouldnt have bought on a holiday complex.

One other thing restaurant prices have gone up since i was cont.

By the way stood on your patio, not impressed with your boring sea view!!!!!! stick with my multi coloured playground thank you

One other thing restaurant prices have gone up since i was there, Ithere is a lack of restaurants in tatlisu. I went to one which i can only class as someones lounge, had a shish kebeb and chips which was at best average and they charged 15YTL. I know its not much for lunch but thats more then i would pay in uk.

If we have a good restaurant on site im hoping even though we dont own it we could have some influence and not get ripped off.

last thing i promise- you can now use 3g turkcell at the site, it is very slow and takes forever to load 1 photo, but for emails is fine, they should be getting coverage extended sometime in March which will be a lot quicker.

Hi Jakki thanx for the photos. Making me jealous that yours is finished (well is it? is the snogging done now) and mine aint. C how menny typoos Artur can find. Why did he let the secret out about my garden plan on the other thread is he just trying to take the attention away from his own missile pit disguised as a pool.

Hi All -

Steve did RMS let you have sight of their questionnaire? Do you know what sort of questions they'll be asking the residents? I do remember Andy and Mike asking whether anyone would object, for example, if residents started to paint their properties different colours. Did they run anything like that past you?

Thank you!!!!!

I'm sure Arthur will reply later on when he gets home from work.

Andy I feel sure there are one or two left if you want to snap up one and edith can do you a good deal. Looks as if the workman are getting on with my plot so may get a short break there soon (on my own) to complete, organise the meter and furniture. Since your mate took those photos things are beginning to happen or is it only when they see someone there with a camera?

Hi jackki Didnt get to see questionnaire we will have to wait to see content. think it will come out next week.

Andy As far as resale are concerned they have about 30 left which is quite a high number, there still appears to be people looking looking but how many ill commit at moment who knows.

My concern is 30x 60 =18k worth of management fees that will eat into the yearly budget.

I spoke to Andy again about the beach-he says that they have 3 options depending how much money they have left at the end of the build, ranging from JCB leveling and cleaning to 2 super dooper jettys.

Phil and Sheila,

I have reveived your mails regarding snapfish, unfortunately I can't open the link, this may be because I am trying from the office and the firewall they have in place could be blocking it, I shall try from the apartment this evening from my own computer and let you know what happens then.

Thanks so much for your efforts and help, I hope you both have a great time out there.

Rocky,

We are due over there in mid April (hopefully) and we intend to finish things off then.

We were last over in September 2008 and the interior was far from finished but we did inform them at the time that we were in no hurry as we would not be back over again until this year.

While we were there we ordered the beds and some of the furniture plus curtains, blinds and such and this time we intend to sort out the kitchen ware etc, some other furnishings and try and ensure that C33 is up and running so we can actually stay there on our next trip.

The ACs have now been fitted and we believe the white goods are scheduled for mid to late February and we have already requested Connie to have the meter installed and the electricity turned on.

Cheers,

Alex.

Hi Shiela/Phil,

Wrote a reply yesterday but just as I was going to press the send button the computer crashed and it was too late to do it all again.

Many thanks for taking the time and the trouble to do the photo's, they were excellent.

One question though, were the doors unlocked and were you allowed to just wander inside or did SWB/RMS let you in ?

The reason I ask is the apartment is supposed to be finished, minus white goods and snagging and it seems odd if it's possible for anybody to walk around a finished apartment ?

You were obviously O.K. but other people may not be.

Thanks once again for the photos.

John.

Rocky, please don't give all my secrets away, but I'm glad to say you're way off the mark. Actually I run a rescue organisation and the bottom of the pool slides away for the launch of Thunderbird 3. The carport surface opens so that Thunderbird 2 can launch. Your eyesight must be bad as you don't seem to have spotted the strings that work my head, arms, legs etc.

And please don't mock, I'm sure that when "Tractorboy 1" [which I believe is the first of your rockets] gets into trouble, you won't hesitate to call.

Only problem is that Jackie keeps asking for a pink, 6 wheeled Rolls Royce..........

Big question is...who is The Hood???

Andy, having noticed your interest in fishing, Jackie and I were thinking of having a pond in the front garden of C34. Thought it might look nice if we bought you a smart little outfit with a pointy hat and you could then sit and do some fishing in the pond..............only joking mate!!

Andy,

Can't fault the way your boys have played , gone from being several points behind Raf's lot to being clear leaders. Zola has turned around a fairly disjointed team and got them to play good football. In order to keep my Champions League hopes alive for next year, and to keep at least some excitement going in the Premier League for a few weeks, I will naturally want Thames Ironworks FC to win, with Newton Heath going home disappointed. Hopefully whatever happens it'll be a good game.

So you're going to have Zenit St Petersburg next door? I'd stick to being our garden gnome- our house certainly isn't going to be teetotal.

Loby as we had a list of requested photos we spoke to Andy onsite and let him know what we were doing. All the completed ones awaiting snagging and handover Andy is making sure they are secure after the builders have finished etc. Be assured all villas and apartments that have been completely handed over are locked. Couldnt do a report last night as we went to a special kebab night and were late home!!!! Early to bed tonight as we had a lovely day in the sun driving around stopping to enjoy the scenery and then an Effes in Bellapais square

Two weeks this Wednesday - can't wait to feel the warm sun and watch the sun go down having a large gin n tonic at The Bellapais or indeed from our own roof terrace - I suppose it will feel strange driving straight to our villa from the airport and to wake up in our own place!!

will the bar and restuarant be open now? Andys neighbour will stock it with Smirnoff. I heard that some Russian properties have 5 metre satellite dishes in the garden so that should help Andy could he wire the whole site from that. Shame it will block Andy's view though looking at the signal strength on moscow ariels . com it needs to be in front of 133!

Ivor Zhivago, do you know one of your countrymen called Ivor Bigun, though it's cold out there at the moment and he may not be ?

I think Zhivago's humour is very similar to our own rocky's, are they twins ?

By the way rocky, I'm not calling mine Loby's place, makes it sound like a chip shop !

I'll have to give the name some thought.

I'm out there for a week from 14th Feb. Let me have your numbers if you want photo's but I don't think I'll be as well organised as shiela/phil were.

Reports will have to wait till I get back probably.

Staying at the Pia Bella.

We have just uploaded 50 site pictures from this week to a snapfish group room. An invite has gone to all email addresses we have already.

If you don't get an invite, check your junk folder first, then email us and we will add you to the list if we have missed you off.

You can add your own photo albums to the SWB Group room then will all get an update

If you think the photos look good just wait until you see it for real.

Hi All,

Glad you like the photos. The group room is 'visible' to all snapfish accounts, but you need the room code to access it. This will stop people playing silly wotsits and posting dodgy photos anonymously. Therefore.... putting the code on here is NOT a good idea.

If anyone we haven't invited already wants the room code, just email us (or anyone else who has room access) and we can pass it on.

Q. what is this 75% reduction in transfare of title if you pay now or before the deadline (late march i think) seen a few postings on this forum with people working out they stand to save a lot of money? now a few of you lot are due to complete and will have to pay 5% KDV with your final payment ( im led to beleive) 75% reduction in your KDV? is this correct? wont bother us as we wont complete till after july when the offer ends

Andy I too will complete after the generous reductions (75%) so I have not looked into them whatever they are. Are they merely a way of the TRNC to get money in before any agreements on compensation? My Stage 4 payment being made tomorrow so hopefully completion in May when I have permission from the other half to pop over for a few days.

I can't wait to get over there now the sky looks really clear too, i'm not expecting it to be so warm but looking at the pics it looks glorious.

thanks ever so much for letting us see them. if there is anything we can do (within reason) for anyone just ask.

Suzie,

It was nice in the day, we sat outside most days for coffee etc and the day Phil went in the pool it was lovely so although water was cold it was njoyable, but it gets cold at night so be prepared. We loved doing the photos as we are so excited about the site and its going to be fab and we know what they mean to people. Patrick and Anne who are living on site said that the rain had started again yesterday as well.

Have a great trip.

rocky, you wouldn't like staying in my place yet, it hasn't got any white goods, no furniture or blinds and the snagging is still to be done.

Funnily enough the intention was to rent it out to anybody before I bought but when the time comes that it's ready we don't want to do that and will probably only let family and friends use it to start with.

Even then I want to be the first to stay in my apartment.

Times running down quick now so anybody who wants photo's give me your member name and property number.

This Zhivago chap who owns Moscows 18-30 club, doesn't he know he'd be hard pressed to find anybody on SWB in that age group ?

LOby would appreciate internals of C32 if you have time, not sure when I am going out just paid penultimate so await the final payment now. Need to get it up and ready for a family holiday in July so I will have to go out and if no one trusts me in their property I will just take a sleeping bag and see whats unlocked/ Good night

Loby having been in the fortunate position of owning a holiday home before I agree it is better to keep for private use only. However whilst the finance of a few lettings does help but also it is difficult to ask friends and relatives for an economic rent although they tend to use the same water electricity and we have to pay rental tax. Also friends and relatives do not stretch far enough to book a reasonable number of lets per season. If they have children everyone seems to want the same weeks. You could try my twin in Moscow!! who will be looking for space for his 18-30 holidaymakers at SWB.

Don't worry Rocky, when Jackie and I are over in two weeks time, we'll take some photos of your internals [in the nicest possible way of course].

How's the engineering going on Tractorboy 1 ??

Arthur please have a great time in SWB and photos would be welcome. Please ensure you fill your pool with tankerered water rather than tinkled water. I would like to try your pool out with my friends when I visit to complete in May so please make sure the water chlorine contect is regularly checked otherwise any illness/infection we will hold you liable. Please could you leave some furniture on the patio and the roof terrace so we can have a party and welcome Zhivago to the site Loby thinx hes my twin.Well Loby is a northerner.

Funnily enough, Zhivagos used to be a disco in Southend about 30 years ago, on the top floor of what is now the Victoria Shopping Centre.

If the video of women drivers was the one I saw, it's a hoot [no pun intended].

Rocky, can't think you'll be able to have a party on either our or your your roof terrace. I've given strict instructions to the teetotal brigade to stamp out anything remotely looking like fun, so you have been warned.

When I take the photos of C32, can I tinkle as well??

Problems already, the flights been changed, instead of getting to Ercan at around 9:00pm it's now going to be 6:00am next morning with a hire car booked to come at 10:00am to the hotel. We are going to be shattered.

Must go and start packing, not sure what to take though with some sun during the day and being cold at night we don't want to take too many clothes.

Mint, what was your number?

Hi Loby,

Sorry to hear your plans have been changed. It really was chilly at night but in the day we were in shirts and jumpers.

Our villa is C41 if you get a chance especially if the roof is complete yet.

Have a good time and say hello to everyone. The pools are now all full and look fab at night when the lights are on.

without the sat nav could you not find the way to the fishing venue? My car was broken into in Altrincham at the Cresta Court Hotel and they were after the sat nav but I had taken it out of the car. They nicked my digital camera instead still it was only a £50 internet job.Seems to be a problem up north I wss more concerned about getting the smashed window replaced bfore I could get home. Anyway down south they are more honest or perhaps stupid I parked in a car park in a hotel Bournemouth and forgot to shut my door tws ajar leaving my mobile phone on the passenger seat, twas still there in the morning!!! lucky me thinx

andy re the transfer if Barclays cocked it up you have a right to complain and they will refund the loss back plus compensation for the anxiety it caused you. However if you gave them the wrong account number or signed an incorrect instruction you have to take the responsibility. I will not charge you for this advise as you are tapping into Gorbachovs satellite for me, or was it Zhivago, thats dementia I need a bed in my wifes nursing home I think

Andy yes I do know one or two individuals at Canary Wharf (providing they have not been sacked or received too higher bonuses) I worked for the fsa there however even me with my contacts in higher places would not be able to convince them that it was their fault if you ticked the wrong box. Stick with the aerieals Andy and next time you fill in a transfer form let me check it. Didjew get the picture of the greater spotted??

DOes any one have any curent costings on the mains unit?

Hi Samby unless you negotiated it in the sale and its in your contract its an extra I guess around £250 per unit you need to advise Yoav that you need it as an extra. Otherwise get it fitted by someone else after completion.
