Source: BRT
20 January 2007

The leader of the Justice and development Party, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said "as the 59th government of the Republic of Turkey, we have achieved a great deal on the Cyprus issue"

Mr Erdogan made the statement during the Justice and Development Party’s consultation and evaluation meeting in Turkey this afternoon.

Addressing the meeting, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan evaluated the Cyprus situation and stressed that Turkey had not made any concessions on the issue.

"If there is anyone who claims otherwise I call on them to step forward and prove it", he said.

Noting that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus's struggle was to prove its legitimacy around the globe, the Turkish Premier reminded that the Republic was in need of support.

"The 300 thousand people who live in the TRNC are our brothers, and that’s why we are working meticulously on the Cyprus issue", he added.
