Good article in Sunday Times today about holidays in Northern Cyprus . The strength of the Euro against the Pound could be good news tourism in the North .

I think the ST must subscribe to the "one united Cyprus" theory seeing as the picture they used was taken in Limassol.

Positive article quite a few people at work and friends heading out to Cyprus hopefully it will be a good year. At Manchester Central exhibition centre they have just had the holiday and travel show. There were four stands devoted to holidays in Northern Cyprus including CTA and the Northern Cyprus tourist board only one for the South.

very positive north cyprus article in yesterday's daily express

promising direct flights from 17 uk airports to "cyprus" (sic)

then I noticed "advertisement feature" at the top, oh what a let-down

dunno about the "one united cyprus" brigade

but a picture of the lovely jordan and the talented peter andre

published in 2008 used a stock photo of kyrenia as a backdrop

Enjoyed the article, but the writer never mentioned that you can fly to Larnaca and drive over the boder to the north. The way the article was written made it seem that the only way in was to fly via Turkey, which is a little mis-leading and could stop people from going,

Paul.

Yes it does

"...Flights touch down on the Turkish mainland. It’s easier to fly charter (0845 045 0153, charterflights.co.uk ) or Avro (0871 423 8550, avro.co.uk ) to Larnaca, where you can transfer by taxi or minibus to the north of the island. Car hire is essential; try Avis (0844 581 0147, avis.co.uk ) or Budget (0844 581 9998, budget.co.uk )."

msg 10,

That's probably because the scribe who penned the piece in return for a freebie was ordered to show their appreciation by bigging up the north.

it's ideal for keeping everyone on their toes that a journo like macha

shares an extensive knowledge of the cyprus "problem" as it is called

as well as his particular viewpoint, with us on this forum

and doesn't do it for any freebies but purely out of the goodness of his heart,

still no sign of any breakthough on the talks as he used to relish predicting

in sean's previous incarnation as private pike, gone strangely quiet on that...

oh gawd, now I done it: we'll have the bailiffs back again on his next posting

"the alleycat"

ps

juliet, I thought I was gently correcting the real meaning of your posting

in a light-hearted and jocular manner,

and I only wish your objectivity was as well-developed as your multiligualism

you seemed for one precious moment to support the average expat

but no excuses for spelling mistakes, red faces and smacked botties all round

sorry to bring it down to this grubby level but both north cyprus and turkey

offer value-packed eurozone-free holidays,

my colleagues are totally rabid for both: one lady got her days "mixed up"

and never made it back to the airport in turkey

as regards north cyprus people are far slower to discover it,

and I really don't want the hoi polloi to winkle out my favourite places,

but then get hooked, driving on the left and three-pin plugs an absolute boon
