Soap Opera to televise 'normal story line'

Popular soap opera Eastenders is due to take a new direction in its plotlines, a spokesperson said.

During the next few weeks, a new family will be introduced to the square. Surprisingly, no murder, adultery, blackmail or violence will be involved as they settle in to their new home. Storylines involving the family aim to be that which viewers can relate to in everyday life.

‘A typical event in the new household will be a small argument over whose turn it is to buy the milk or disinfect the bathroom.’

‘Things will come to a climax at the end of the month when one character thinks he might be made redundant, but then isn’t.’

When questioned about the unusual take on script ideas, writers and directors were quietly confident.

‘We’re pretty sure the new family will be a success and will boost our ratings. After all, watching them will be a bit like watching reality TV, and people are obsessed with that.’
