Two states and a "velvet divorce" seems to be the only way forward due to near stalemate in the talks.Although Britain has given its public backing to Turkey for its E.U. bid.The plot thickens, Paul.

Paul i think a two state solution is the only option that would be "workable",but god only knows how their going to sort out the property issue and on top of that we've got the orams case next week,if that goes the wrong way its just got to have a negative effect upon the talks, let alone the panickers that'll be running around like headless chickens wondering what they can do if they have uk assets!

i think in any solution the foreigner owned properties will probably be the last on the list for protection and the first on the list in any give n take negotiations,i hope im wrong,if it all goes wrong i would suggest that uk courts would do buggerall to protect uk citizens interest either as it'll be them that will have rubber stamped the decision,oh well,it'll all be clearer come the end of next week.

sporty says, "i think in any solution the foreigner owned properties will probably be the last on the list for protection" Just look at what's happening in the south as far as foreigners' property is concerned. Neither Britain or the EU are much use in protecting buyers there - read http://www.northcyprusfreepress.com/2009/11/07/a-very-cypriot-problem

Britain and the EU are no good at protecting foreign owners anywhere in Europe. Look what's happened to property owners in Spain as well.

mesg 8, i've read it Mal,says it all about the south doesnt it!And they're in the eu aswell!!I bet they had some great meetings about how to get our corrupt developers out of the shit and still make ourselves look good? mesg 9, Britain is absolutely spineless when it comes to standing up for your own!! Perhaps Britain could learn a few lessons from the cypriots on how to do it!
