Is the vatican Homophobic ??

Or is it justified in putting it's beliefs over the inclings of those who indulge in @#@~@~@?

Homosexuality is a disordered behaviour that must be condemned, a Vatican official said yesterday.

Walter Cardinal Kasper made the remarks during an address at the Lambeth conference, the once-a-decade gathering of the world's Anglican bishops in Canterbury.

Kasper, who is president of the pontifical council for promoting christian unity, reminded delegates of the catechism of the Roman Catholic church on homosexuality: "This teaching is founded in the Old and New Testament and the fidelity to scripture and to Apostolic tradition is absolute."

Quoting from a key document on Anglican and Catholic relations he said: "Homosexuality is a disordered behaviour. The activity must be condemned; the traditional approach to homosexuality is comprehensive ... A clear declaration about this theme must come from the Anglican Communion."

Such a statement would "greatly strengthen the possibility" of the two churches giving common witness regarding human sexuality, something that was "sorely needed in the world of today".

Kasper was saddened that dialogue between the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church had been seriously compromised over the issues of women's ordination and homosexuality. These developments had also caused the Communion to enter into a period of dispute, he observed.

"Many of you are troubled, deeply so, by the threat of fragmentation. In such a scenario, who will our dialogue partner be? How can we appropriately and honestly engage in conversations with those who share Catholic perspectives on the points currently in dispute, and who disagree with some developments within the Anglican Communion or particular provinces?"

The decision to allow the ordination of women in 28 Anglican provinces implied a turning away from the common position of all churches of the first millennium, he said.

The Catholic perspective on the Anglican Communion was that it was moving a "considerable distance closer" to Protestant churches of the 16th century.

Kasper's comments are one in a series of Catholic carefully worded expressions of dismay to have been aired at the conference.

Yesterday's address was well attended, with more than 150 bishops squeezing into a room designed to hold 50 people.

As long as they do not make it compulsory, I have no concerns.

Turbo. Did you actually read the article? The gathering was for Anglican Bishops who were being addressed by a Catholic Cardinal.

If I were to write something similar about the leaders of Islam, would you be happy?

People who can think for themselves ignore the pontifications of those with no experience of real life. Patriarchal, male dominated and vastly rich organisations which exploit the poor, put the fear of "god" into the ignorant and whose members are protected after abusing children should be stripped of their wealth and power. What was it George Orwell said? "One cannot really be a Catholic and grown up."

Here is one for you on the virtues of the priesthood from todays cyprus mail.

Priest fined for beating puppy

A NICOSIA district priest was fined after an eyewitness reported him beating a stray puppy black and blue.

The priest, who chose to pay the fine to avoid going to court, has denied laying a finger on the animal, reports said yesterday.

The incident took place in Tseri village earlier this month and was witnessed by a Nicosia dog shelter volunteer.

According to local news reports, Nicosia dog shelter president Sharon Beckett was passing by the village cemetery when she heard the puppy crying. Following the sound, she came upon the priest beating the defenceless four-legged creature. The animal rights activist’s presence and cries prompted the priest to stop what he was doing and the frightened puppy ran off. Beckett found it and took it with her.

She later reported the incident to the Community Council. But according to her it did nothing about the issue, forcing her to appeal to the police.

The priest had allegedly denied touching the dog and said he had simply found it on his parents’ grave and had tried to shoo it away. He admitted that the fact that a stray dog was on his parents’ grave had angered him and added that strays had no place in a holy place. Nevertheless, rather than go to court and to put an end to the case, he agreed to pay a fine.

The puppy has since been adopted by a Nicosia family

Three Italian nuns die and go to heaven.

At the Pearly Gates, they are met by St. Peter.

He says, 'Sisters, you all led such exemplary lives that the Lord is granting you six months to go back to earth and be anyone you wish to be

The first nun says, 'I want to be Sophia Loren;' and *poof* she's gone.

The second says, 'I want to be Madonna and *poof* she's gone.

The third says, 'I want to be Sara Pipalini..

St. Peter looks perplexed. 'Who?' he asks.

'Sara Pipelini;' replies the nun.

St. Peter shakes his head and says, 'I'm sorry, but that name just doesn't

ring a bell.'

The nun then takes a newspaper out of her habit and hands it to St. Peter.

St. Peter reads the paper and starts laughing. He hands it back to her and says.

'No sister, the paper says it was the 'Sahara Pipeline' that was laid by 1,400 men in 6 months.'
