No disrespect to Snakes but if he had been on last instead of Funkey Monkey the amphitheatre would have been almost empty & not as it finished up .. He is obviously a very talented guitarist .. We were looking forward to seeing him for the first time after all the good publicity he has had .. Almost all the people around where we sat said he was far too loud & that you couldn't differentiate between his gutar playing & his "backing group" .. Sadly not our cup of tea .. If he got rid of his backing group & just played his guitar .. Then maybe .. Just our opinion ..You can't please everyone ..

msg6 That's the whole point, Barry records pretty much ALL his own backing...Its called Multi tracking an is definitely not for the faint hearted,it takes hour/days ,and devotion to music...Something Barry has in "BUCKET LOADS" ....lol

No disputing the fact Barry is extremely talented .. But does he have to play so loud .. When listening to a CD the whole of Ozankoy doesn't want to listen .. George Formby won't appeal to everyone .. Now he could play & sing at the same time .. LOL

Hi zerochlor We were sat right in the centre of the stage as high as you could get on the steps .. Perhaps this was the wrong place for hearing .. Certainly the best for seeing .. It was a fantastic night .. Again thought Snakes too loud .. Couldn't decypher the singing over the guitar playing ..

Well harita, i understand what your trying to tell me,but in all fairness, barry was not responcible for his sound, right in the centre of the seating area was a few guys who where sound engineers, with a huge consul with many wonderful flashing LED strips. Next time your at a concert, and you feel it too loud, get a grip of 1 of them guys, and ask him to turn it down a little,as them are the guys controlling the volume, that time and at every concert. But glad you enjoyed it ,as i did very much, from up on the balcony seats, although,it could of done with be a smidges louder where i was!

Good night last night and we hope the Cheshire Homes made plenty of money. Thanks to all who performed and gave their services to the cause, our only negative thought was the fact it went on far too long. With an average age of 74!!! give or take a few years, seven hours is far too long. Apart from that, great, well done.

Harita, as mentioned before on this thread I had no control over my sound levels the WHOLE show sound and lights were controlled by the engineers halfway up the Amphitheatre. Do you realise that when you stand on the stage such as the Amphitheatre you have no idea what it sounds like out the front. I'll ignore the other "snide" remarks you make although It seems that you doubt I was playing my guitar and refer to my "backing group" etc I would therefore like to invite you to my studio and witness me constructing a "backing track" playing all the instruments etc for yourself (earplus provided) which I very much doubt you'll accept . I am pleased to see you are a minority ! regards Barry ( PS having played at many festivals with all sorts of music styles, if I did not particularly like an act I wouldnt watch it, let alone slagg it off the next day)

Msg 5 harita "Almost all the people around where we sat said he was far too loud & that you couldn't differentiate between his gutar playing & his "backing group" fully agreed. someone finally pointed the lack of good quality backing track and too much of backing instruments being a total mess sound wise. rock has never been only the issue of being loud nor playing so many notes on the guitar. "love" is a key word. do it with love to your audience, adjust to what you are told and you will hear only positive remarks.

msg 29.. I think Snakes will have to Draw you a picture, you obviously don't understand that when on stage the artist has" NO" control over the emanating sound ..He/She are utterly reliant on the people behind the MIXING DESK......... A good sound is only as good as the sound engineer makes it.... I once went to see a loud band called"Foreigner" the men behind the mixing desk GOT IT WRONG and all but the stone deaf left!!!!!!! It wasn't to loud it was badly MIXED..please blame it on the blameable...

I felt it, as well as heard it, and loved it, even though I labour with 60% hearing deficiency for high frequency sounds in both my big big ears. As the modified lyrics go "I felt it in my fingers, I felt it in my toes, the love that was all around me, and so the feeling grows, its written in the wind, its everywhere I go." (well it was after the students left !). Very grateful to Snakes and all who did so much to perform and put it all together. Some may feel that they have justified criticisms but perhaps better not to make them on an occasion such as was. We should all be grateful that such a small community can have so many talented people willing to share this with others. If I read one more complaint I will retaliate with one of my old, crap, jokes

I thought you were excellent, Barry. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and thought you played their numbers really well. Trouble is it's not really dancing music, and not everyone's cup of tea. I'd have liked you to have done 'Saucerful of Secrets' but that might have really emptied the place. You were really great, mate. Don't let the knockers get you down, they're entitled to their opinion. Remember, this is zimmer frame city!

I can't express any further opinion because, I get accused of allsorts if I do. And anyway, I just can't be bothered. Washerman (BTW Mark has the right idea on the other thread!) |

I'll ignore the other "snide" remarks you make although It seems that you doubt I was playing my guitar and refer to my "backing group" etc I am sorry if you think I have made snide remarks .. If unintentional .. You say you have no control over the over the sound levels .. In my opinion trying to sing over shall I say "accompanyment" from where we sat did not work .. I previously stated you are a very tallented guitarist .. But feel the singing & guitar playing doesn't gel .. Again I apologise for upsetting you .. It was definitely not intended .. Just my opinion .. Harry .. zerochlor .. message 18 now,if i told you my secret, would you go along with it? Definitely .. But maybe a bit to late for me now .. |

Harita. ok.you have waited long enough for my secret! The secret of staying young is to get out alot more to some of the very noisey concerts that are up and down the island. I met a cracking cockney couple at 1 of barrys gigs at china garden one night,in there late 70s,god did they know how to enjoy them self, wish i could remember there names, almost 80 anyway, did not act or look a day over 60,seems the secret is to get out and enjoy life alot more, its not a dress rehearsal, make the most now,as we will be along time sleeping! i understand what your saying harita.
