Does anyone know if Laughing Buddha on the main road into Girne from Lefkosa, has changed hands? Came past today and there are some new signs up - but didn't manage to read them......but did notice the HUGE and Impressive Chandelier hanging over one of the terraces......it was very beautiful sparkling in the sunlight......hope it stands up to the winds of winter though.

The chandelier and new signs belong to the disco which was open for a short while underneath the laughing budha. The restaurant remains the same, we were there a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice.

It was for sale a while back as one of our friends were interested at the time, they didn't buy. So maybe it is under new management? After our last experience i wouldn't chance it.

Dont think its changed hands there, we hadnt been for about a year and the owner was the same then as is now. We had a nice meal, I dont think its up to the standard of Chinese that we are used to, but it was still good, bit overpriced.

The Chinese restaurant is still there. The club (with the chandelier) is called Al Mahara and there were problems with the licensing but I'm not sure if it has reopened now.

Without doubt the worst meal I have ever had in TRNC was at The Laughing Budda... avoid. Don't even think about going there

I prefer the Dragon for chinese food. I have to agree with Blackbird on this worst meal ever. Saying that we have friends who love it there, but then they would eat anything.

lf you are looking for a chinese restaurant why not try the one just off the turning to Jasemine. It has a large Panda sign outside. The food ıs great and reasonably priced

How strange. Have been twice in the past few weeks, once with visitors, and the food was excellent. Visitors were impressed.

It has certainly changed then. The food there and at the Chinese House, opp the Ship Inn, was only just acceptable in comparison to the dreadful place at Karakum, who's name escapes me and the Shanghai. What a blessing when the Dragon opened! I don't know the one near the Jasmine Court, it must be 'after my time', though I liked the China Garden.

Which is the one near the Ship Hotel. I am always getting these Chinese restaurants mixed up. It's too flaming expensive anyway! Some of you lot must have good pensions, that's all I can say!

R message 12 - the Chinese House used to be amazing, one of the best Thai curries I've ever had. We had to go there twice every holiday. But the chef changed...and oh dear did it change for the worst...
