It depends on the length of time between readings as to how many uints are at each band.. e.g last reading was late due to Bayram so each bandwidth was 350 units...

The unit prices do not change from month to month, but the bands do. Only 250 unit bands on a 30 day month.

Longer months = more units & shorter months = less units.

The rates are 30 kurus, 35 kurus, 38 kurus for each 250 (or the monthly band) & finally 50 kurus for any units above 750 (or monthly bands).

There is no service charge on Builders electric, but Pipie you must surely already know that, given the length of time that you have used this & other TRNC forums.

Finally there is no such thing as Direct debit in North Cyprus. Even the banks use this term erroneously.

Bank payments here are made by standing order. The Utility in question send the Banks a list of bills & the Bank instigates the monthly payment on the due day.

It is therefore strictly speaking, a variable standing order.

Thanks guys,

Our reading on the meter when we arrived was 180 when we left it was 307.So we used 127 units base that on 0.30 i make that 38.1.So does that mean that my bill should be around 40tl.Seems way to cheap to me after some of the horror stories that i have been hearing,

Paul.

Do you mean standing charge rather than standard charge?

There is a standing charge (Maktu Ücret) every month for those on normal tariff, don't know how much it is for builder's tariff. It is approx. 34 kurus per day for normal tariff. This is added to the basic cost of the electricity and then 10% KDV is added to get the final amount.

Newlad, your bill should be 38.1 (units used), standing charge of approx. 14.20 (that's what our was) plus 5.23 KDV = 57.53.

That is the advantage of having an apartment and not a 6 bed villa with drive lights etc . Apartments are cheaper to run newlad !!

Pipie. THERE IS NO STANDING CHARGE FOR BUILDERS ELECTRIC levied by Kibtek. I do not care what a friend told you.

In your first post you used the word standing charge & in your 2nd you used Standard charge.

You were writing to me about this issue at least 3 years ago, maybe in 2006 on Villa Owners BB, before this board started.

You asked about this then & I answered your query then.

I'm given to understand that your daughter owns a property here & has done for some time now. So why I ask myself, do you repeatedly ask the same questions over & over again.

You are your own worst enemy.
