http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11804398 Maybe one day they will allow the use of all contraception therefore reducing the numbers of terminations, unwanted pregnancies etc. They just need to think a bit more as condoms should always be used to stop the spread of STD's. Chris

Chris as an RC and Irish at that, we watch a lot of italian TV, it seems the vatican are having a big re think, they have too as all the abuse in the name of religion. I have just finished a book where kids in orphanages were sent to australia the abuse the experience there at 10 years of age, i cried all the way through it. They had physical abuse in the home they were placed in the UK, to face sexual by the sisters of no mercy and the brothers who were suppose to be christian well anything but. I hope the church can address these problems and put the minds of those who suffered to rest, also to put us who still beleive.

As far as any religion is concerned, it seems the followers and believers are incapable of intelligent rationalisation - merely 'the blind following the blind' - all in the hope of 'eternal salvation'! Having been punished and brutally beaten at British boarding schools in the name of 'religion', I very soon formed my opinions of the rank hypocrisy it all entails.

msg4 Ismet...Don't forget that religion was used as tool to control the masses more so in days gone by.....They used to call it" guidance from above" where in actual fact it was a book of rules written by Men...(a kind of Religious Policing of the peasants)You will put money on the plate or face Excommunication!!!

A long overdue rethink on condom use, especially in the light of HIV spreading fast. Better late than never though.

When God, or was it Moses, said 'go forth and multiply,' the population needed no encouragement, but enough is enough. It is a bit like Muslims not eating pork when they did not cook it properly – a good idea at the time.
