Top 15 destinations posted, guess which country wasn't there. Apparently UK number 23. Perhaps Gary Robb was on to something.

I have a couple of friends who live in Thailand and they absolutely love it. They enjoy a very good standard of living at reasonable prices.

Did anyone seriously expect N Cyprus to be in the top 25 ?

Do your friends rent there? Serious question as Pauline has been told she could have difficulty renewing her

residency next time.

you can buy or rent. rents start around £300 per month. cost of living cheap. electric with aircon running £40 per month. car tax £50 per year. water like here cheap. food extremly cheap. you have tesco everywhere, shopping malls modern roads motorways. fantastic beaches and islands that take you an hour to get too. cheap travel throughout the country trains buses and flights cheap cheap. have a look at

Thailand is currently facing armed violence in its five Muslim majority southern provinces, I wouldn't think of living in Thailand, ok for a 2 week holiday, but not to live there permanently.

Foreigners are not allowed to own land in Thailand however they are allowed to own apartments/condos. We are regular visitors to Thailand and you can rent reasonable accommodation from 200 pounds per month. The health service is good and reasonably priced so much so that it is becoming a popular 'medical tourism' destination.

Superb beaches, golf courses, shopping, etc. Thailand has a lot going for it as a retirement destination.
