Hi Everyone

Well, I am on the scrounge, I would like to ask all you lovely people out there if you would make a donation to the Kyrenia Animal Rescue.

If you visit their web site they now have a donate button where you can donate as much as you like to help this very worthy charity, these guys do a fantastic job and I am sure that any kind of help or donation would be greatly appreciated.

so I will probably be offering myself as a volunteer, hope you will have me!

we will be moving out there this October , and I would love to offer my services, I enjoy walking and certainly need the exercise, so perhaps Icould become a dog-walker, or help in some other way. We have notgot a dog at the moment, we lost our German shepard a few years ago, and as we will be living in an apartment it wouldn"t be fair to keep a dog but perhaps I could adopt one, the trouble is I"d probably end up with half a dozen! poor hubbywould have a fit.

Although help in the form of volunteers is always welcome I gather the real issue is funding and I agree with Lesley donate what you can, even £2 or £3 goes a long way in feeding the animals in NC

Just a suggestion but an animal sancturary here (UK, Wales) has had most supermarkets agree to putting a bin just outside their exit doors for people to put in a can/packet/etc of dog/cat food into which people can put their donations, I regularly put in a tin of dog food each time I shop, because that way it's not a drain on your budget etc. The members/volunteers for the sanctuary then collect/empty the bins once a week.

Also do you have a scheme where a pet can be adopted, as in people like me don't live full time here, but would be happy to sponsor a dog/cat and visit them each time we are here? There would need to be a set cost per year for this to make it work.

When we are in TRNC our favourite Sunday is to walk some of the dogs in the morning (as least 2 each) then up to Alevkayasi for a BBQ with the locals or lunch at the cafe there.

The dogs seem to enjoy it as much as us. Give a donation or take some bits out from the UK, they are always grateful for dog collars. (Aldi and Lidl sometimes have special offers)

Hi Oknala already tried the super markets for that but they say they already have a scheme going for the animal charities in the UK very few are willing to help out because the animal rescue is in Cyprus.

But I also do a blog on Yahoo which I have asked quite a few people for donation or even sponsor a cat or dog, had quite a few responses to that and also quite a few donations as for the cans of dog food we already have quite a collection of collars wormers and flea things I am not sure that our suitcases could handle much more unless like I said before we leave all our clothes at home...lol.

If anyone would like to visit the web site there is lots of info on there regards adopting a cat or dog there is a donation button even a couple of pounds will go a long way to help.

There are happy ending stories which we love adding to the site, and also if anyone can send collars or worming tablets flea powder or sprays it is all welcomed by the Kyrenia team.

Oknala,

Its easy to take dogs for a walk. Just turn up at the Rescue Centre and ask if you can take some dogs out for a walk. Not sure of all opening times, but Sunday mornings are OK. You could phone to make sure.

Varied walks around bottom of Five Finger mountain, on flat or some a bit more strenuous (not recommended when its hot).

Yes will definitely make a donation. I have contacted them already about helping out at some stage but will log onto the website later to do it.
