Tetanus vaccine. Where to go?

Where can I get a Tetanus vaccine? It's been on my mind lately and I just sliced my finger on a rusty blade so there is another sign that I should get the jab. Do the pharmacies do this or should I walk into any medical facility?

I think you can get it done at any emergency section of any government hospital. I am not sure about the private clinics.

How long ago did you have your last tetanus injection?

Depending on where you are, typically Lapta health centre will give an injection and I know of one chemist in Alsancak that will also carry out the injection.

Thanks fellas. I cannot remember when my last jab was given. I hope that it will not be a problem to get an "early" one. I'm on the other side of Girne so I will walk into the Girne hospital and see what happens then. Thanks.

The hospital in Girne will give a tetanus injection .. A first injection .. A second injection one month later ..



A third after twelve months .. This gives you 5 years cover ..



I had it done in Jan/Feb next time Feb 2011 ..



Can't remember whether it was in my arm, my arse or my elbow .. But it didn't hurt a bit ..

General hospital Girne definitely will give tetanus. Was bitten by a dog and got it there.

If you have had previous tetanus injections you do not need a full course i.e. 2nd & 3rd doses. Simbas is correct in saying that after 5 tetanus injections during your lifetime you should be covered but I thought that if you had an nasty injury ( laceration/burn etc.) and it was more than 10years since your last tetanus booster it was recommended that you had another booster.
