We brought our classic car over here

its 44 years old

We still had to pay duty on it

Plus you still have to pay road tax, but reduced.

Yes your car has to be 25 years old

You have to join the Classic Car Club and thay will take the the paperwork to the Antiquities Dept.

Yes, you will pay import duty no matter what age but it is reduced if over 25 years old (based on it's original price when new). You have to provide this proof either from the manufacturer or your makers car club.

Message 8 - speak to Tamer Konat at the Classic and Sports Car Club of North Cyprus. His office (Tamcar Garage) is on the dual carriageway on the left hand side as you head towards Kyrenia from Lefkosa. He can be contacted on 0548 611161.

Have a look at this thread http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/75771.asp from message 3 onwards. The gentleman that posted this is involved with the Club so it is definitely the right and most up-to-date information.

Lindsay message 2 - if the car was brand new in 1992 and it cost £34k then this is the price that the import duty is based on.
