As I got talked into giving a talk by the oh so persuasive Alex main of 5 Fingers at Ozankoy, I thought some of you might be interested in coming and hearing what I should have shared ages ago - namely the truth of what happened in the filming and making of the documentary some of you saw 'No Place Like Home'. I know it was a long time ago but several people have expressed interest in knowing more of the background. well now is your chance to learn as to what got put in, what was left out, the joys and the pains of 60 hours of iflming, all reduced into a 45 minute programme. I am not showing the whole programme, but hopefully some bits, but the highlight of the evening is the 3 course meal that Alex dishes up for a mere 25tl. and of course, the story is about Alan as much as about me, and many of you featured in it. You can ask questions and you can also tell me to shut up. Now THERE is an offer you can't refuse. Sat 14th Jan, 8p.m, but bookings must be made - please.

Hi Marion, excuse my ignorance, what was this documentary about, just live up the road from the 5 fingers and will have a walk down if it is something that might interest me.

thanks erol. Hope this helps Blue Butterfly. Catherine Gee the presenter was a lovely lady, and I envied her her job! B ut as to the evening, I think it is worth the 25tl to have alex's great grub. and Ihave promised that if I get boring Iwill shut up!

there is another thread that Alex has started on this one and it gives the menu.

Actually it is interesting that Chaterine says in the first week they had 5 different people, but maybe they had 5 episodes. Ours was a good 45 minutes plus adverts. So that is why I won't inflict the whole thing on anyone, but hope I can get clever with Alex's help to show the bits of interest out here !

Hope that helps, but mainly a HUGE thanks to Erol. Where do you find this, Erol?

Google knows all Marion

I am hoping to come along with Karin if its not already fully booked before I get a chance to ring tomorrow. The way I see it getting to tell you to shut up is worth 10TL of anyones money, so that makes the meal at the remaning 15TL even better value Just understand I will want my 10Tl's worth as well

I will do my best Erol. any particular questions you want answered. tell me now and I will think about it. I am afraid it is likely tobe an off the cuff, but I hope I can give youa few laughs. and even if I am NOT worth 10tl, the meal is definitely worth it!

i doubt it is fully booked! there, I am just being 'umble.

Look forward to seeing you again, especially as I didn't ge t much of a chance to get some good rapport on the Weakest Link.

Sorry Marion I was not saying listening to you is worth 10tl, but the 'and you can also tell me to shut up' offer you made here http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/83257.asp was worth the 10 TL ;)

Of course you know I am only joking. Sure it will be a great evening.

Thanks Lilli, and to Erol - I know a lovely lad like you is just joking, but for the record the 25tl is for the meal - I come for free. Not even 'reasonable' - just 'free'. The reason I offer to shut up is I know some people can prattle on beyond their time and as people start to fall off their perches the speaker should realise that a degree of boredom is rushing on apace. So, in order for people to have a good evening, then when saturation level is reached, just tell me to sit down and shut up.

and to Lilli - where are you, how are you ? Was thinking of you today as a dog was left to die on my doorstep - and I wasn't there. It had obviously come for help but Alan did not know until it was too late. I am devastated as it was a lovely, lovely dog left to roam the streets by a disinterested owner. A lovely, warm hearted, friendly dog - but now dead. and the poor thing did not seem to have a proper home - so the message comes afresh that there is indeed no place like home -

Hey Sue, who are you? (oops that rhymes), but I love receiving flattering remarks, but for the life of me I cannot fathom who you are, as I strongly suspect your personal details might be a tad inaccurate. Forgive me if I am wrong. But thanks for the compliment. I feel I need it tonight of all nights.

Hi Lilli, God speed your recovery and return and thanks for the e cards. As you know I am a dummy with all things electronic. Even getting my column to NCFP is a miracle. Have not been enjoying great health either of late, but 'we shall overcome'.

Marion is a great person and does a lot good work. Good luck on Saturday, you wll, as usual go down a 'storm.

sorry if we three ladies have got this a bit off thread, but sorry to hear two of you are suffering from ill health. Not good at the beginning of a new year.

Thanks Polly for the nice things. Not sure I want to go down 'a storm' cos they can do a lot of damage, but I hope people enjoy Alex's wonderful cooking, with me as a bit of an extra dessert (note I did not say 'desert' cos Idon'#t want to be one of those dry speakers.
