No mate the baby will be a TRNC citizen as it will have been born in the TRNC. You need to book a ticket to the UK and do what all the other foreigners do yehhh.

AFAIK - it depends on whether you are British born or British by descent. If you were born outside of the UK then your child will only have the right to British citizenship should s/he be born in the UK. If you are British born then your child will automatically have citizenship. There was talk of this changing in 2012 but haven't looked in to it.

Unless the regulations have changed since March 2010 then you do not need to leave the island to give birth for your baby to be entitled to UK citizenship. When I gave birth to my daughter inNorth Cyprus 2010 - she had the right to a UK passport - I am a Brtish citizen and my husband is a Turkish citizen . Becuase we were both foreigners she has no TRNC citizenship rights - but holds dual nationality for both parents home countries. tuncel.berk@fco.gov.uk try e mailing this address - not sure if he still works there or has retired - but the British consulus in Nicosia will have all the current info for you.

not sure on this one, I also had a baby here in TRNC but my husband and I are both British so we got a Turkish and British birth certificate and a British passport, you will probably get a dual passport.

I think also it depends on whether you were born in the UK or not . I was also told that if my daughter ( who is only a toddler now ) has a child outside of the U K that child is NOT entitled to UK citizenship / passport - however if she gives birth in the UK they would be. Of course all this is subject to change I suppose with regulation changes. Contact the British consulus office.

If you are British, your child is British regardless of where it is born. It probably can't be prime minister or whatever, but it should be a dual citizen of both Cyprus and the UK. I'm going through the same thing with my wife now. I'm American and she is Turkish Cypriot with a Greek Cypriot passport. We're giving birth in the UK and wondered whether they'd be eligible for a British passport but apparently not unless we lived here more years than we intend to. Goonerhus do you have any idea whether its possible for the child to get a Greek Cypriot passport without getting a Turkish one. I'd like to do that so they'd have the Cyprus passport but avoid the Army service requirement or sending them abroad for many years? I'm not sure what issues that would cause with schooling and though. Anybody know any immigration experts on this? (Sorry to hijack a bit)

madhel : your son will have the kktc card if he ask for it - no way he can avoid army because of your wife TC if you stay in trnc he will have to do it or pay for it - even if your wife have a cyprus passport - he can stay 3 months but not more than that and if your live there he will have to go through -
