Just bought 3 packs of AA batteries and all were out of date, some over 3 years OOD. Not saying where but check them before you buy them.

I bought some CR2032 button batteries GP brand and they were very short lived. My friend had similar experience. Now I insist on Maxell brand.

On the subject of batteries - can anyone tell me of places where they have safe disposal points? I do not want to throw my old batteries in with the rubbish because of the obvious environmental issues involved.

Sensible replies only please - this is a serious issue!

Fraid so, I certainly never heard of any safe disposal points - if anyone has I, too, would like to know. The problem is that dealing with dangerous waste is a very expensive business. All I can suggest is careful separate wrapping of toxic and food waste to refuce the risk of contamination of food which might attract animals. And use stout bins with firm lids rather than bags. Goodness know what happens when it gets to the dumps, but at least that stops predators spreading it on the streets.
