I just wondered about this. It sure would be nice to meet some of the members on here.

I suppose we would all have to wear a little badge with our Forum names.

Has it ever been done? If not, why not?

I liked message 3 also. Might even feel quite inferior myself only having the one!

Ah.....twas just an idea.

Perhaps not such a good one

Sue there have been loads of BBQs and lunches in the past, i am sure there will be more in the summer months.

A group of us often go out together in the winter months too.

Sue - no, not a bad idea at all

A couple of years ago, during the summer (when more people were in NC) some of us did meet up a few times for lunches at Guidos. I think quite a lot of friendships were forged. Whether they're still going is anyone's guess!

Have also to agree with message 3

A great idea

I have already met a few members on here in the flesh, so to speak and enjoyed the experience. If any of you fancy a night on the 'tiles' I have a great venue in mind.

Great idea!

Lets do it. We could take turns burning our furniture to keep warm while the electric is off.

Great idea but don't forget the "East/West Divide". This may be a problem when trying to decide on a venue

Deniz1 organised a day trip for members on one of the Sabrina gullets a couple of years ago. In the end the trip was postponed because of bad weather but I think she had quite a good response to the idea.

astro941 - definitely the way to go. If not masked, certainly "incognito" and see how the land lies

Ismet - don't worry. Should you attend, I'm sure you'll be as safe as houses.

I don't know about the others, though

It would be great to meet up with the forum members of Cyprus44. But are you the same "suehowlittle" who was threatening to leave the board the other day due to DC's ban? Handbags me thinks...

Have met up with some members and a moderator at Guido's couple of years back.

Had a drink together, and have met another who kindly gave me a lift from airport.

Oh and Hans, of course, as have been on one of his historical walks.

Good to meet up but problem is am only out for short visits few times a year and hard to

keep in touch, but always willing to attend get-togethers!

Sue, I think it is an excellent and unbelievably generous gesture. When you have made all the badges for all the members please post the date and time you wish members to arrive at your beautiful home. In the meantime it might be a good idea if you also work with Howard to enlarge the open space available at the side of your villa to accommodate, at a guess, 1,0000 plus vehicles, including the coaches and taxis. It might be that felling trees (for logs) is OK but you may wish to stop short of knocking down adjacent buildings ! xxxx

I attended a few get togethers at Guidos but the trouble was a) nobody had any name badges and people like me with split second memories could not remember any, b) most of us sat at a table and got to know only the one sitting next to you or infront of you. So a BBQ would be better with greater chance to mix. A name badge is a must for me.

Attendance not mandatory, I agree not everyone wants to socialise and after reading a lot of the comments on here perhaps it's not a very good idea after all.

I have only met one member on here (we gave blood together the other day) Other than that I have one friend who is a member = 2 people I know I could get along with on a night out. Should I be a bit scared of meeting anyone else?

It was only an idea but I have had a real laugh reading the responses. Thankyou all.
