Most of you will already know by now that Maureen has lost her brave battle with cancer and passed away last night at 7pm.

We have all lost an amazing friend .

I'm sure you will all be sending much love and prayers to Tony and his family in the UK.

İ was so sad to hear the news of Maureens passing she was a lovely lady an inspiration to us all. She always came to Carpenter and bought a smile to everyones face. We have had many laughs as we dressed up for special events. Christmas Easter Halloween Race Day and many more!! İ did manage to win one day with my Easter bonnet. İ won the famous Maureen Carrot Cake best one I have every had. She never conplainted at all and was always supportive to us. We will miss her and our thoughts are with Tony at this sad time. Love always Linda and Ilhan xx

Feeling very sad about Maureen's passing. She did such good things for the Island and loved it so much. Tony and hers Orchid Walks where just lovely, went on them a few times, she was so welcoming and created such a lovely atmosphere on those days. I first met her within 2 weeks of moving to the island and over the last 7 years she has always greeted me as a friend. Always loved to see her at Carpenters and have a catch up. Poignant also for me as my brother is also being treated at the Royal Marsden and is also battling terminal cancer. It was a real pleasure meeting you Maureen, we will all sorely miss you. Will be thinking of you when I see every orchid this year x

A light has gone out in the TRNC! Maureen was a one off, a unique and special person who was loved by so many people, including myself. She was a dear friend, so full of life and vitality it is difficult to believe she has gone. My sincere condolences to you Tony and I hope you will take comfort in the fact that the Maureen you loved so much was loved by so many other people. RIP Maureen, your pain is over.

A book of condolence is to be opened at Carpenters market for Maureen, it may not be this Friday, we may have to wait until next week to get things organized, but anyone wanting to sign the book can call me and I will let you know when it will be available. Maureen loved that little market, it was hers, she started it and she loved to be there every Friday, no matter what the weather was like, so it is a fitting place for people to come and sign the book, which will then be given to Tony. Please ring 0533 830 5375.

Tony, our thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time. Maureen touched the hearts of so many people, even those who never met her, (Son-In-Law loved her Medlar Jelly, which I brought back). Her work and energy in North Cyprus was to be admired and I hope you take some comfort from all the lovely comments of people who's lives she touched. A great loss.

So very sad. I remember many years ago when Maureen helped us with a big problem at Lefkosa hospital.

I also remember visiting Maureen and Tony at Hisarköy with some friends to help them with the carob-crushing!

RIP Maureen.
