Does it have a kickstart?, If not your only option maybe to put the battery on charge OR give Harvey a call 0533 845 6019 a Maestro with Scooters and Motorbikes.

This may sound odd, but does the brake light work when you pull either the front or rear brake levers on, as the brake light switches are in circuit with the starter button. Possibly a flat battery or maybe a brake light switch. What make and model is it? Mike

Hi Linda, It might be worth turning on the ignition and pushing the bike down a hill. If you hold the throttle open then it might fire. Make sure that the fuel is switched on and see if there are any friendly locals that might give you a push!!

Also check if you have left an indicator light on, that will suck the juice when you try to start it

This bike will not start with a push as it is an automatic with variable pulley and belt drive. If the brake lights work, then the switches are operating ok, but also the battery does have some charge in it to illuminate the brake light, maybe not enough power in the battery to turn the engine over. Can you hear a 'clicking' sound when the starter button is pushed? You will need to either, get someone to try and start it with jump leads from another battery, make certain yours is 12 volts, most are these days, or check that the battery is fully charged. I take it the engine does not turn over when the starter is pushed? Try the Motorcycle shop in Girne just down from the Belediyesi Square if you are unable to make contact with Harvey.

Use a battery of similar amp hour rating to jump start, ie yes another scooter or bike. Providing the battery does not have a faulty cell or cells (sulphated) it should charge up with a battery charger. Do not use a car battery charger, it will damage the battery cells. Reading post 11 It does sound as though the battery may be knackered, because if you have been riding the bike around for a few months the battery should have been charged up by the bikes alternator. Make certain that one of the brake light switches is not stuck on, if you are only riding short journeys and the brake light is illuminated it may not allow the battery to charge up. Not sure on new battery cost here, but UK approx £20. My advise is: Check battery voltage using a voltmeter, if low charge up Check main fuse, use multimeter to check continuity, sometimes a fuse may look OK but is fractured at one end. Check output from alternator Check starter switch & solenoid Check wiring for breaks or corrosion
