He joins a long list of others like former Manchester headteacher, Jean Else, became the first woman to have her damehood annulled & Robert Mugabe. The Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu & Benito Mussolini and the Irish patriot Roger Casement. It is a fair line to be following, something to tell the grandkids about i suppose !

Scapegoat? You must be joking !! He should be locked up - with many others in high finance when society is pointing the finger at those on benefits - many of whom cannot find gainful employment.

A correction: Fred Goodwins pension is £650,000 a year. Whilst everyone agrees that the banks were a significant contributing factor to the economic crisis, Fred Goodwin did nothing criminal. The withdrawal of his knighthood is nothing more than a political gesture aimed at fostering public support. What about the politicians who have received knighthoods or made Lords ? Peter Mandelson was sacked twice from government in disgrace because of dodgy dealings but was still able to land a plumb job in the EU and then was made a Lord. Yes, Fred Goodwins pay and pension package seems ridiculous to us BUT it was agreed by what was then a PRIVATE company. I don't see the public or politicians making the same fuss about football players who are paid £250,000 a week
