Why hire a car in North Cyprus?

North Cyprus is a beautiful island, with dramatic scenery and historic sites to explore. However, North Cyprus public transport is limited to small local buses, whose timetables are somewhat erratic to say the least. A North Cyprus hire car gives you freedom to explore at your own pace, without worrying about missing the bus back home – or indeed which one IS the bus back home! What you need to hire a car in North Cyprus

To get a North Cyprus hire car, you will need a valid driving licence and be aged over 18. Your UK driving licence is valid, and make sure you take both parts of the new style driving licence, that’s the paper details and the plastic card. Most care hire rates in Northern Cyprus rates do not include Collision Damage Waver, (CDW), which is recommended, especially if you plan to explore the less travelled roads in North Cyprus by hire car.

Car Hire in North and South Cyprus

Cars hired in the south can be taken into North Cyprus, but this involves getting new insurance at the border, as south Cyprus insurance is not valid in North Cyprus. North Cyprus hire cars cannot be taken into South Cyprus. If you want to fly into South Cyprus and then cross the border, your car hire company will happily come and collect you from Larnaca airport, and take you direct to their offices in North Nicosia to collect your North Cyprus hire car.
