I started this new thread (follow-up of http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/44662.asp ) because it became difficult for me to check all the suggestions and remarks. (Thanks to all the contributors!)

The map at http://is.gd/f1VYS needs some more additions. Here they are:

• More locations of banks

• More locations of private clinics

• Kyrenia Society library (is this the official name?)

• Doctors (recommended by board members): 3x please

• Dentists (recommended by board members): 3x please

• Forestry Commission (where people can buy Christmas trees)

• Some orientation points like schools and/or other landmarks

√ One way streets (I'll do that myself)

Thank you for your help!

If you can help: please click this URL http://is.gd/f1VYS and look at the bottom right of the map. You'll find simple instructions there how to use the grid to tell me the exact location.

Hans

Since the map is so small,i suggest instead of cluttering it with description of the locations you want to mark,

why don't you just use a number (preferably in a circle) to mark the location and print in one corner of the map a full list of the explanation of the numbers marked?

You can group similar locations by color coding numbers.

Iceman,

Size of the map: I designed the map with screens of modern laptops in mind. The size is now 1000 pixels wide and 750 high. Furthermore several Bulletin Boards won't show part of a larger map. A larger map on other BB's would force the user to scroll all the time. But I'll make the final version available and downloadable from one of my sites in hi-res (300dpi) for those who want to print the map on A4 or even A3 in the highest quality.

I considered to use numbered circles and a legend but decided not to do it, mainly because I didn't know in advance where I had to place the most important Government offices etc.

I may make another Map of Girne (Kyrenia) with popular shops (etc?) - and you will be on it with my recommendation! - but first I'll do Gazimağusa (Famagusta), because I understand from board member Gooligan that many people east of Girne have to go there for official matters. Regards and have a nice day!

Your maps are brilliant DC. Do you know of any street maps yet for Lapta/Karsiyaka. I know this must be a HUGE task but would really like to know when one is available. Thanks

No problem - I had to use a shorter name on the map anyway: Old Brit. cemetery...

If you find the map small, copy and past to word doc, then enlarge to A4 size paper

Astro seems to be in the wrong place; shouldn't it be G4, 7?

Forestry Commission is down a short track opposite the gardening shop near the state hospital. I would put it in the bottom left hand corner of V6.

Astro should be the bottom half of F7 (adjacent to the Zeytinlik road)

Kyrenia Society (official name) library is next to the BRS behind the Post Office

I agree that Astro is in the wrong place & it needs to be moved to F7, because it is causing confusion in the current place on the link posted in msg. 1.

There are several more banks along Mete Adanir Cd. The main Creditwest bank on the LH side as you drive from Girne towards Lapta & also an Isbank on the same side of the road in Bedr 'something' C'desi.

The only Garanti branch in Girne is also on the other side of the road along the same road. Unfortunately, I do not know the exact location of the banks. However, the Creditwest branch is on the first LH corner of the road directly before the original Ezic restaurant.

RE msg 10, japeaal: (...) If you find the map small, copy and past to word doc, then enlarge to A4 size paper (...)

=> Don't do that yet, I'll make a high resolution file ("Map of Girne") available tomorrow afternoon. You can make an excellent print from this new 300 dpi file. (The map on your screen now is only 72 dpi so the print is below standards!).

re msg. 17.

Unfortunately, Dentist Seda Serger's surgery is located in almost the same place as the red square where the Forestry commission is now marked.

[ http://is.gd/f1VYS/"Map_of_Girne" ] updated again: added Kyrenia Society Library @ location T5-2. I think this is enough for this map, I'll make another one with only the State Hospital, private clinics, GP's, dentists and pharmacies. I hope you keep writing feedback in a new thread "Map of Girne (medical)"!

Hi Hans,

Have you included the stadium/football ground off Raif Denktas Cd or is that the same as Degirmentasi Parki?
